Roy Jones Jr, Glen Johnson, Antwun Echols, Syd Vanderpool, Antonio Tarver and Jermaine Taylor are better than the stiffs Joe C was fighting before he faced Lacy.
The only decent, natural MW's that Hopkins fought he lost to (Jones Jr, Taylor).
Brewer got robbed against Echols, Woodhall was on the verge of being robbed against Holmes before his shoulder went, Vanderpool? Not in the class of Reid, Sheika, Woodhall, Veit, Brewer, Mitchell or Lacy. Glen Johnson was an average journeyman before the Jones Jr fight.
even before the lacy fight marvin hagler said that calzaghe should be at least 6th p4p
Enzo Calzaghe and Duke McKenzie said he was the #1 lb4lb fighter in the world
I've said Calzaghe is the best fighter in the world all along, always said it, always laughed at by American's. But there's nothing he can do.. he can win every round against the over-rated Winky Wright (who beat blown-up welterweights to make his name), totally out-working him, but everybody would say Calzaghe was too big or Wright was too old or whatever. There's nothing he can do I don't think.
highly thought? i dont think so... he was not even in top 25 P4P list.
Lacy is just an inexperience fighter thats it.
LOL If you think Lacy wasn't highly regarded before the Calzaghe fight, then you simply were not in any way, shape or form following the sport of boxing.
Lacy has been boxing since he was 8 years old. An extensive amateur background with over 200 fights, where he was a National Champion. An Olympian. Undefeated as a professional going into the Calaghe fight, with victories over former world title holders, and having defended his own world title four times, most by impressive KO's.
NOBODY was calling Lacy "green" or "inexperienced" before the Calzaghe fight. The only thing anyone was talking about was how quick he was going to KO Joe. Now when he loses, all of the sudden he was just a green nothing of a fighter? LOL it's so funny the propaganda and spin that everyone loves to perpetuate.
