He had razor close fights with Castillo and Maidana and he immediately rematched both how can they possibly not be risky fights?

Anyway obviously he took risks in his career.

Corrales was obviously the biggest risk on paper.

Canelo was a risk, Pacquaio was a risk, Shane Mosley was a risk.

Ridiculous to say he didn’t take any risks.

Here we go again. Another Floyd myth to debunk:
      Let us see:
      >Beat Corrales when he was undefeated (and the boogeyman)
      >Moved up to lightweight and beat castillo in his first fight at that weight
      >Moves up to 154 and beats De La Hoya
      >Won the world title at the young age of 21 from a game opponent in Genaro Hernandez (in his prime) and immediately defended it against a game challenger in Angel Manfredy
      >Beat Cotto at no catchweight and coming off his most satisfying victory (as per Cotto himself) while he was facing jail cases
      >Beat a young prime canelo at 36
      >Beat Hatton

Yeah he cherry picked a few fights like Berto and Guerrero, wont excuse any of that

He got the W on paper but in reality there is absolutely no way he won. I could be good with a draw in some ways, but to say he won. Absolutely not
Ok. I am not suggesting it was anything other than a squeaker.

        Very close.

De La Howard- moved up to his 5th weight class.

Castillo- fought the champ in his first fight at 135lb. Then rematched him straight afterwards.

Corrales- He was the underdog going into that fight.

Mosley - coming off a dominant victory over Margarito.

Canelo - Young champion in a higher division.

Easy to claim someone did not take risks when we know the end result. You have to have integrity and be honest about what people were saying at the time.

                  That just defies logic.

Post Hatton, after age 30,he fought Shane, JMM, Cotto, Manny and Canelo. That is 5 sure fire 1st ballot HOF'ers. If those fights aren't considered risky then maybe we need to re-evaluate Floyd and consider him a top 5 ATG.
That's a lie I felt he was ducking Shane and he actually was ducking him. It took Shane to get in the ring with him and call him out, and with that it was still 1 1/2 years before the fight took place. Shane was the least risk he was pushing 40 and already shopworn.
If Floyd wanted to fight some risks, maybe he should have came off vacation when the whole ww division was prime and calling him out. What's next you gonna say fighting lightweight Marquez was a risk?

Now he was ducking a dude that refused to fight him because of a toothache. Got it.

                      Let's see

Mosley said he needed a vacation 2/06 after the 2nd Vargas fight..

Floyd vs Hatton 2007 when Floyd told Larry Merchant he needed a vacation. You said his hands was hurtin'. Shane said if he beats Cotto he wants Floyd if Floyd beats Hatton. Prime Cotto beat Shane and called Floyd out but the phone was off the hook.

Mosley beat Margarito 1/09. Again says he's ready for Floyd.
Floyd came off vacation and fought Marquez 09/09. Two years later. Brian Kenny questioned Floyd about cherrypicking lightweight Marquez when Shane was the champ. Floyd gets offensive and makes excuses. Postfight Shane just went ahead and got in the ring and called Floyd out. Actual fight took place 5/2010.

So Shane actually was ready to fight Floyd a year after taking a vacation. Took one loss to Cotto regrouped and Floyd still ducked him.

It took Floyd 1.5 years to make the fight happen.
