The only exhibition fights that Pacquaio has engaged in the past was when he was very young and needed the money to support himself in rumored unsanctioned illegal fights that had very little rules and he apparently won most of those too.

This is a far cry from the youtube celebrity amateur boxing matches or arranged mismatches that Floyd Mayweather competes in nowadays.

Pacquiao’s camp, through special assistant Jayke Joson in a Philippine publication, denies the claim and said Garcia has yet to prove himself as a worthy challenger for the eight-division world champion.

      https://mb.com.ph/2021/01/26/pacquia...-from-reality/

"The camp of Manny Pacquiao dismissed Ryan Garcia’s claim that they are scheduled for a super fight after the latter posted a teaser on social media sites on Monday."

This is borne out by Pac's only statement on social media about it so far.

“Much dreaming and many words are meaningless. Therefore fear God,” said the Filipino Senator.

The only reason this rumor is getting any traction is because McGregor lost last week so the Garcia negotiations couldn't have started before that and this type of negotiations usually take a long time to finalize. The Pacquaio camp was fully focused on fighting Connor before he lost.

This entire speculation is a trial balloon from the Garcia camp to entice Pacquiao to fight him. If there is enough interest from the public, it certainly can become a reality, but none of the details have been finalized including the so called exhibition fight rules that the Garcia camp has been spouting.
Thats great Im parroting what was put up by somebody else as I said, I read it but didnt post , it was real early and mentioned they were about to fight Connor and that was off, anyway I hope to fck this dont happen.

I am sure that you and most knowledgeable boxing fans would agree with that quote from the Pacquaio camp that Garcia has yet to prove himself as a worthy challenger for the eight-division world champion.

However if there is enough interest and the public clamors for it, I won't discount the possibility that it would happen. It just takes time to finalize the details and I highly doubt that Pacquaio would agree to the Garcia's camp request for having an exhibition fight instead.

Regardless if I were you I would put more credibility into quotes from the Pacquaio camp in Filipino publications rather than one sided dream speculation quotes from the Garcia camp.

To be honest I dont put anything past what might happen in boxing , I guess my gut tells me Manny is ducking Spence, especially seeing the Connor fight was just about done Manny doesnt have the time if he intends to fight the top WWs, my gut tells me Its now or never.

I thought the Ryan thing was too far fetched but Im very dubious of who Manny actually does fight, hopefully its a real WW and either TC or Spence or Porter, we should get an announcement soon, I wouldn't be surprised if the Manny Ryan thing was joint public relations boost to get them in the news right before they announce opponents.

Pacquaio's made this observation on Spence after the latter fought Danny Garcia: he thought he was much slower than Thurman who he already beat.

I think he is still willing to fight Spence. He said he wanted to fight twice in 2021 after all.

From what I have read he wanted to fight McGregor first though so he can donate most of the proceeds to his countrymen in the Philippines who were affected by the COVID pandemic. That is not going to happen after McGregor lost so maybe Ryan Garcia could become a plan B.

It is possible he was considering Spence after that since he considers him beatable.

BTW, Pacquaio is not really a true welterweight. He usually enters the ring around 143 to 145 lbs in welterweight fights so he is always at a disadvantage in that division after his opponents rehydrate to close to nearly 160 lbs in some cases.

I am sure he would be willing to take a fight at his natural division at junior welterweight if there are any superstars from that division and lightweight division who would be willing to move up to fight him at that division.

I read he was even willing to fight pound for pound top rated former lightweight champ Lomachenko at junior welterweight when he was at Top Rank but Lomachecko refused when given the option to do so which is one of the reasons why I consider Ryan Garcia praiseworthy. Taking on the challenge of fighting an all time great like the Pacman while coming from a lower weight division is no joke.

Earlier this month, Pacquiao picked up the biggest victory of his pro career - when he knocked out 2012 Olympic gold medal winner Luke Campbell in the ninth round to capture the WBC interim-title.

Manny was 144 lbs in the ring as a Jnr LW 15 years ago , he has been 150 Fight night on a number of occasions, he is not a big WW by todays standards but he is a WW all the same , I can provide proof of the weights if you doubt them.

I said usually. He certainly could have been slightly heavier on several occasions but for the most part he weighs in below the welterweight limit of 147 lbs on fight day. He doesn't even cut down and fast on the day of the weigh in like most fighters and still eats his normal breakfast and lunch before the weigh in at welterweight.

This is an observation made by Roach and others in his camp in interviews. They consider his true weight division as junior welterweight(140 lbs) and some even think he could have made lightweight(135 lbs) if he cut down like other fighters do on the day of the weigh in given his medium frame and height at just above 5'6".
