What a precedent this is setting, and they wanna bag Floyd for retired exhibition fights for casuals, this can damage boxing more than any celebrity boxing circus event, this opens the gates for all kind of wierd sht in regular boxing, Canelo vs Teo anyone, how about Canelo Joshua, this is such BS from two active stars of boxing.

What a joke boxing has become.

Manny Pacquaio who was a lightweight at that time fighting Oscar de la Hoya who was competing in the junior middleweight division was also considered a joke by many at that time more than a decade ago especially since de la Hoya was much taller and bigger than Pacquaio.

Guess who beat up who in that fight and forced de la Hoya to retire, the Pacman and de la Hoya was only 35 y/o(still relatively young by boxing standards) at that time not ancient (42 y/o) as Manny is today.

Having said that Pacquaio is no de la Hoya. He is an all time great who has won championships in 8 division and in his last fight beat an undefeated welterweight champion(Thurman) who was 10 years younger than he was.

I think the fight will be competitive because of Ryan's youth, speed, height and reach but in the end he will be schooled by Manny's advantage in experience and power in the end.

Just like the de la Hoya-Pacquaio fight, I think a Pacquaio-Ryan fight will garner a lot of attention and ppv buys because of the huge fanbases each fighter brings with them and it will be a much needed boost for boxing as it will attract more than just boxing fans but the general public as well.

Considering how few marketable fights are out there in boxing that can attract the general public's attention nowadays, it is good that a fight as good as this that will attract the attention of fans from all age groups will be there to help bring the limelight back to the sport of boxing.

One thing for sure. For boxing fans and the boxing skills perspective, Ryan is a more legit competition for Pacquaio than MMA superstar McGregor. The latter won't probably last one round against Manny so it is good McGregor's MMA loss scuttled that potential fight against Pacquaio.

You know it's funny tho because floyd vs YouTube and garcia vs pac will do more numbers than a Spence vs Bud or Tank vs Garcia fight maybe it's the casual fans fault just as much as the promotional ppl marinating fights well beyond their sell by date
