If one bloke beats the other I would say the winner is the better out of the two, seems logical

you cannot say 1 win is enough.. the rematch may result differently. to play it smartly you won't give your opponents one in order to make the people believe you are better than him. see the logic? some logics like A defeated B and B defeated C doesn't mean A>C.

Yes but we aren’t talking about triangle theories, they actually fought and it wasn’t even a contest.

If a fight is close then maybe the rematch throws up a different result, but not when one person strolls it without getting out of first gear

not all the time buddy.. how about pac-morales 1? the rematch resulted differently from the 1st one. best of 3 is the proper measurement of who is the better between the two.

I think I could agree with this logic.

If Ali vs Frazier ended in their first bout, it doesn't make Frazier greater than Ali.

Yes it would if ali’s career ended that night.

The reason Ali is better is because he beat Frazier 2 more times and beat Foreman and regained the hwt title 3 times when no one else had done it.

Floyd/manny is like SRL/hagler. 2 people who had vanquished all other competitors fighting to see who the best is.

Hagler is my favorite and I loathe Ray, but I accept the fact that win will forever put Ray above him. Manny fans need to do the same.

The thing is that was a close fight that warranted a rematch. Floyd/manny wasn’t.

Because you are a manny fan, you want manny to get endless shots to beat guys that beat him.

You would never suggest Shane or Thurman should get a rematch after manny beat them.

You’re basically just gerrymandering the rules for a guy you love.

You can attribute that to Floyd's style, yes, but you can also say, despite not getting the Manny we wanted, he probably was still more active and landed more overall punches than Jr. Though because I think the world expected Manny to bull doze over him and we did not get that, the critics/judges were hard on Manny for it. Although let's be real, Manny was not going to win a decision in Las Floyd. Floyd denotes so much money to that city, they love him for it.

Let's also just sweep under the rug the fact that Jr. had dirt on Manny's shoulder injury going into the fight. Despite a mediocre performance from Pac, it wasn't an amazing performance by Jr. I consider Jr's win at this point, similar to Teo's win over Loma. Yeah, he got the "W", but it wasn't impressive.

I couldn't see Floyd beating a prime Pac when he just coasted by an injured, lesser activity Pac.
                  This right here.

I've never seen Floyd backpedalled that much in his pro or amateur fights. He like backpedalled 80% of the fight with Manny.

His clean punches on Manny landed on Manny's forearms or neck. Pac landed the cleaner punches.

                    Pacquiao -Margarito weight in:

                    Pac 144,6; Marg 150

Has Floyd ever fought so much heavier man?
