i don't remember tszyu vs floyd ever close to being made, it was just both tszyu and floyd saying they both wanted the fight but nothing came out of it.

mayweather was part of the tszyu sweepstakes i believe, so were alot of other names.

floyd was with hbo at the time, so realistically the only names tszyu could have fought were hatton, vivian harris and corrales since they could fight on shotime.

Floyd never cared about the WBO or IBF titles

floyd didn't really need to unify at the time as he became recognized as the top guy by beating judah and baldomir.

judah was actually the last unifed undisputed lineal champ at the time by beating spinks who had the wbc/wba/ibf belts.(wbo didn't really count at the time)

judah lost the wbc belt to baldomir and floyd moved up to beat both judah and baldomir back to back, which essentially made mayweather the undisputed champ of the division even if he didn't have all the belts.

floyd chose to move to 147 after the gatti fight, wbo champ cotto and ibf champ hatton didn't really call him out at the time

in fact the only other 140 champ that called him out was vivian harris who had the wba belt, and this fight possibly could have happened if harris didn't lose to carlos maussa

as for 135, floyd priced himself out of a possible unification with paul spadafora who was the ibf lightweight champion.

And this why fighters jump up and down in weight claases instead of handling their business in their weight division . I get it , its for the money but why do most of them say it's about legacy then do a complete 180 ..? May weather really did a number on boxing at least we got PAC

No no that’s definitely not what happened mate.

Floyd went to 140 with his eyes on Tszyu. He was very clear that’s the fight he wanted and they tried to make that fight.

With Floyd being with HBO and Tszyu being with Showtime there was already massive obstacles but even then, Tszyu didn’t want the fight IMO.

But once that fell through, Gatti was next.

Floyd was desperate for Kosta Tszyu to be honest. A big name, a P4P fighter, the Lineage and a guy who was clearly injury ridden and heading the the end of his career.

The WBO didn’t even become a recognized title until 2007. It was just another weak organization prior to that.

Titles get you to the top table. Floyd didn't need more titles, he needed defining fights.

The Heavyweight scene at the moment is obsessed with undisputed, but I'll guarantee that there's a point when the fighters will give up on it. It's probably not far away either.
