They are both champions from Britain so why should they fight in the US?
Joshua has all the right to fight in his backyard.Comment

Lol this again.American heavyweights are non-existent because American big men have the option to go to football and basketball, two sports which pay infinitely more than boxing and come with a bachelors degree since you have to go through university. Not just the money from contracts but a lot more money from sponsors as well. A 6’4-6’7 athlete in the USA is a forward in basketball and a defensive or offensive end in football. A 6’1-6’3 is a guard in basketball and a myriad of positions in football. All over 200lbs. Mike Tyson was built like an offensive back in football.
British big men really have no other option save maybe rugby but rugby players are not as tall as both American big men sports.
You’ll probably never see American heavyweights at the pre 2000 levels again. Anything that was light heavyweight and up is now in football or basketball, particularly black Americans who are the majority of both sports. Why take a chance at boxing and maybe make a couple of mil at the championship level of you get that far when you can make hundreds of mil in football, basketball, and certainly even baseball which pays better than them all.
Theres TWO different forms of rugby (union and league) which are essentially separate sports taking 99% of HW sized athletes in the UK. As for the height thing, theres literally a position in rugby union (lock) occupied exclusively by people of basketball player height. Guys like Fury and AJ are drawn from a miniscule pool in comparison.
And beyond all that, all these excuses fall apart for the simple fact that the US has far more active HWs than Britain anyway. Nearly 8x as many according to Boxrec.
Apparently basketball and American football didnt exist before like year 2000 as well...lol
The excuses (from a country of 330 million no less, ie the largest first world country by a factor of more than double) are honestly just sad.Last edited by TMLT87; 12-03-2020, 10:32 AM.Comment

Totally. Scrum halfs are 14stone these days . Also how do you think people like Gray and Itoje would do with lengthy breaks constantlyLol this again.

Excellent explanation. This is very spot on. The UK is much a smaller country compared to the US, yet the UK produces more outstanding heavyweights. The last great top 5 heavyweight of all time was Lennox Lewis.American heavyweights are non-existent because American big men have the option to go to football and basketball, two sports which pay infinitely more than boxing and come with a bachelors degree since you have to go through university. AJ gets a lot of flack and unnecessary hate. I think he’s a genuine guy, albeit him saying some silly things at times. He bounced back from that loss against Ruiz and put on a brilliant performance, yet people manage to find reasons criticize him. Most of that hate comes from here in the US.Comment

It’s easier to thrive in the U.K in boxing ,the size is why. Most U.S gyms have closed and not nearly as many top trainers active but at the end of the day it’s the fighters that do it not the size of a country . Conto and Anderson will be handfuls and current top guys got a head start in amateur ranks like Joyce ,A.J ,Fury who got his own head start with American trainer Steward .
U.K has easier time keeping consistent in boxing programs but I still see great trainers here otherwise Fury doesn’t knockout Wilder out in the fashion he did and knew going forward was the key while not one U.K trainer thought that was a good idea. Stacey McKinley brought up how to beat Wilder first and he’s another Kronk guy . I also thought Freddie Roach had the right plan and was telling Fury the same thing Sugar Hill was .
The U.S actually produced the greats you talk of Lewis and Fury are easily more productive under the Stewards , U.S hard nosed style .
Joshua could actually be the lone exception.Last edited by REDEEMER; 12-03-2020, 12:56 PM.Comment
