Can Wilder's image ever recover from this?

Wilder seems like a delusional man, who is still in the denial phase.

When he comes out of the denial phase and realizes that he lost fair and square, will he be a broken shell of a man?

I believe when he realizes what he has done, he'll probably never fight a real challenge again. But then again, he dared to fight the best once, so I hope he recovers, because I like him. But these excuses and this delusion is just making it extremely hard.

If he beats Fury, his fans will use it as proof that there was cheating.

    Winning solves everything.

If he loses, he won’t recover from his public mental meltdown.

You think that Fury is going to give him another fight after Wilder called him a cheat?

Fury doesn't really care about the abc belts, I think he would rather vacate than give Wilder a payday.

Fury has already beaten Wilder twice, and nearly killed him last time.

I don't think Wilder is some sort of a broken man. His wild, delusional image is just a creation for the media. However, he does lack the skills of a champion, is surrounded by yes men, and turned 35. Those are his problems right now.

To be fair it does, its the reason the commission stopped the Margarito fight vs Cotto because Margarito was on his way to stopping Cotto again and that would have in a way dissolve all the "Margarito cheated vs Cotto" talks.

Cause the boil-down argument being had is that the opponent cannot defeat you unless they cheat. So theirs room for vindication for both here, If Fury beats Wilder again its vindication that he didnt cheat and just whooped Wilder fair and square, now if Wilder wins its vindication for him that Fury did cheat and that Fury cannot defeat him unless he cheats.

Now does any of this actually proves someone cheated or not? NO but perception is everything and painting the picture how you want is the spoils that goes to the victor.

It can only be recovered by beating top contenders or by beating Fury. He keeps making his reputation worse the more he cries about Fury cheating.

Wilder has a strong punch and a weak I.Q.

He suffers from the all too common condition found in the hood...the inabilty to accept personal accountibility for ANYTHING...ever.

I like Wilder as a fighter...he should have stopped at, "I think there was some funny stuff going on with Fury's gloves..."

I think lotsa things get forgiven in sports. Lotsa boxers have crimes & all sorts of sh^t in their past & few have been Panama Lewis'd from the sport.

That said it won't be easy to comeback from & who says things don't go even more sideways. I mean if you'd have asked me after the "My costume made me lose" argument if things would go even more sideways I wouldn't have predicted that possible, but sure enough it has.

Regardless of where things go I think its entirely possible we have seen Deontay's last fight or he's 1-3 fights away from his last fight so its a pretty whatever situation if he can regain his status again or not cuz it won't be for long even if he does.

If he dared to fight the best we would have had a Vitali Klitschko fight years back . The hard truth is Wilder has never fought a guy that was ready or in perfect health and when he did fight a real top guy in condition he got smashed .

He will go down as one of the biggest jokes and always have unlimited references to be the joke ,even Joyce’s camp was clowning him today wrapping his hands . It’ll never get old .

Thats a bigger problem in boxing. And its as it should be. At the tip top level of the game Deontay has reached its easier to change the guys working for you than reinvent the wheel with yourself.

Regardless of all the holes in Deontay's game he reached the tip top of the sport. There's something to be said for that for anyone who's done it whether it was for one fight or for a decade like Joe Louis. And if you've reached that stage its easily arguable you can again with no or few tweaks that could be on your team more than with you.
