Never understood why Roy skipped over cruiserweight. He could have easily scooped up a title there on his way up or down and been a five division champ.

The WBC needs heaved from boxing. Suiliman is a crooked halfwit who needs banned from the sport.

*edit. He did become undisputed at Light Heavyweight upon me checking which is pretty big. It wasn't a strong Era he fought in but he deserves.credit for that..

Jones beat him once when it was clear that he was shot.
Imagine what a still prime Roy would have done.
Tarver would have gotten ktfo

The subject came up during the official press conference for Jones’ upcoming exhibition with former World heavyweight champion Mike Tyson. Something called the WBC Frontline Battle Belt will be at stake for the scheduled event, which will be contested in eight two-minute rounds on November 28 live on Triller Pay-Per-View from Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

Roy's opinion matters just as much as Floyd's. Maybe even moreLast edited by Boxing Goat; 10-30-2020, 10:43 AM.

If you want to talk about just pure defense, Floyd was probably better but that's about it. Roy was better in everything else.

Crazy to say, there have been two athletes in my life that just seemed to rise above everything, were so much better than everyone at the time and that was Roy Jones and Roger Federer. I wouldn't say that about Floyd or Manny, both of whom have had in my opinion better careers than Roy.

Not sure why RJJ is acting hurt for, Mayweather’s own resume/career isn’t the one he should be taking shots at.
It’s Mayweather’s word that RJJ should be calling out, especially with the way he is promoting Tank Davis.
Vacant title fights, 3 or his last 4 opponents would have been moving up to face him (Leo Santa Cruz included), so yes Mayweather was chatting BS in regards to too many belts because his fighter Davis has a fake one on him... And he himself isn’t even sure which belts he is fighting for tomorrow...
That’s how bad it’s got right now...

I think RJJ is wildly overrated. Yes, he was world-class, but not on this superstar elite level, like some make out. I thought Griffin was beating his ass in the first fight against a fully prime RJJ before the DQ win, and it's not like Griffin was a world-beater. Just a good solid fighter.
On top of that, Jones' resume lacks really top wins. So many of his victories were against C level fighters. Yeah, he has some good wins too, but many losses. I don't count his HW Championship win too much at all.
I remember him saying at the time that he stopped down from HW because he knew he couldn't beat the Klitschko's, and lately he's been acting like he never said that, which he did.
I'd give him about equal credit as stepping up to HW to beat Kevin Johnson, as I do Ruiz, on top of the fact that Ruiz was absolutely made for Jones to beat, stylistically.
I think Jones was great, but nowhere near the Mayweather/Fury level.

Roy Jones is a textbook example of why young fighters need to use their money wisely because tomorrow is coming and tomorrow doesn't care if you saved your money or spent it all. You don't want to be that guy in his 40's getting knocked out by guys in their 20's because you used your money foolishly!
Mayweather still has millions and will never fight another conventional boxer to make money.
