My point in this thread is that Arum sees this as a no lose proposition because either the PBC continues doing business as usual (which I highly doubt) or they stop entertaining the idea of any big cross platform fights.

Someone said the big fights will still happen if the money is there.

    Maybe.

But, if boxing has taught us anything the last decade or two is that a whole lot of big fights don't get made regardless of whether or not the money is there.

Sometimes there's beefs between networks and promotional outfits that nix any chance of big fights.

    Sometimes promoters protect fighters.

I think here, we have the potential for both and more.
Yea I don't think a Wilder vs Fury 3 problem means a bunch of other fights don't happen. And if it does than Haymon &/or Arum are failing at their jobs & leaving money on the table which isn't good for them, their fighters or their bottom line.

Basically the big money right now IS with an AJ fight not a Wilder trilogy fight. If Wilder KO'd Fury in 2 & dropped him 5 times in route to that outcome I kinda lean towards he'd rather fight AJ, if it was as locked up as Fury vs AJ sounds like it is, if he was in the same position as Fury now.

So Haymon won't make Crawford-Spence (one of the best possible fights in the sport) but now Fury isn't facing Wilder he REALLY won't make Crawford-Spence. Oh no.

This isn't on Arum though. He still prefers the trilogy but if Fury wants to go another direction, then he can't do nothing about it. Technically Fury is cleared to do just that.

Bob Arum doesn't want him doing the fight in the UK he wants the second Wilder fight. The more info on this comes out it sounds like this is a Fury/Warren decision with Bob being pushed out. Anything in the UK is Warren. So that means this supposed fight on Dec 5th and the AJ fight with Arum and ESPN out in the cold. ESPN will show it on the app in the afternoon/early evening but that's not what they're paying Fury for.

It makes total sense when PBC's broadcasting partner is expecting a fight and the promoter of the other fighter can't deliver the fighter. The difference between the Wilder/Fury situation and the Spence situation is Fox doesn't need Crawford so why take a chance with somebody that already screwed you over once when you can make more money in house without having to split it with another network?

They aren't "trying to screw" anyone.

Wilder has had the better part of 8 months to have his rematch and he and his team have stalled, delayed and faffed about in an attempt to keep fury out of the ring for over a year in the hope he may lose discipline.

Fury is the king of the division and cant put up with this ****e from team Wilder forever so legally they are within their rights to move on.

Wilder who usually never stops gabbing has gone silent also as he doesn't even want the fight.

I wonder what Fury's deal with Top Rank says? I seem to recall it being reported as for 5 fights, but Fury being coy on the details and whether it was for a certain time or number of fights.

Might explain Arum being pissed? Maybe it was for 2 years and this is the last fight in his deal? If it is, then ESPN won't be happy that they got three tomato can fights out of 4.

That would line up AJ nicely. Sky and BT can either bid or share the PPV. Fury can sign a two fight deal with DAZN or the pair of them can auction the rights elsewhere in the US. And it could be held in the UK.

There's going to be EVEN MORE fights that don't get made now.

And they won't get made because the already sketchy distrust between promotional outfits just took a huge kick to the groin.

You think Haymon wants to hear jackshyt from Arum about a Spence vs Crawford fight now?

Take a good look at several of the more glamorous weightclasses and who holds which belts and you'll start to understand the full extent of this fiasco.

This is going to affect boxing for quite some time.
Last time I checked, Fury told his promoters he was ready to fight and not waiting around for Deontays legs to heal from the costume. Once Fury found out the window for the trilogy expired, he ordered his promoters to get him a fight, which they are doing. Sounds to me like his promoters are doing what they are supposed to do. Wilder got EMBARRASSED in those 2 fights anyway. No need for a third.

Good question. Didn't think of that to be honest.
