I thought Wilder was going to beat Fury.... BOTH times.

Because of the RJJ fight?
His defense, especially in the twilight of his career was outstanding. He wasn't unhittable, but he was a slick, slippery fighter for a man his size and for being past prime.
And here we go again btw, you and I will argue about Toney til the end of time.
Roy hit him at will but that’s Roy he hit basically everyone at will. I mean Roy embarrassed him to a level a great defensive fighter shouldn’t be when they’re in their prime. To lose every second of every round and get hit over and over again is not the sign of a great defensive fighter even against the likes of Roy.
But then Dave Tiberi also hit him over and over and he wasn’t even ranked.
Sosa
Williams
Johnson
McCallum x2
Griffin x2
Thadzi
Nunn
All hit him easily and consistently throughout his peak and prime years. Sure, he slipped and blocked and avoided some punches and also got hit by a boat load in all of them.
Don’t see how that’s a great defence. The whole point of defence is to avoid punches.Comment

Both Ray Mancini and Howard Davis jr. beat Julio Caesar Chavez in title fights.
Larry Holmes ducked both Greg Page and Pinklon Thomas and karma got him back through Michael Spinks.
Milton McCrory 1983 would have beaten Donald Curry in an early title matchup.
Lupe Pintor ducked Jeff Chandler.
Eddie Machen had Sonny Liston shook up, hence the performance.Comment

Billy Joe Saunders doesn't seem that bad of a guy and is actually quite funny.
I admit I haven't watched them back and concentrated on scoring them but I wasn't convinced the results were correct in the following fights:
Spence vs Porter
Canelo vs Cotto
Froch vs JohnsonLast edited by Apollo7; 01-17-2021, 07:02 AM.Comment
