Chris John was a very slick boxer who simply don't want to engage, relying mostly on his long jabs and out he goes on his bike. Ditto Derrick Gainer who made a Forrest Gump-like performance vs. JMM.

Terdsak Jandaeng was a come-forward, pressure, no movement, monument standing in front of him, not afraid to get hit in order to land his bombs.

It's not the "new" Marquez that fought Jandaeng, pressure fighters not afraid to mix it up will always make JMM look good. Watch the Peden, Licona, Medina and Pacquiao fights.

Those pictures aren't from the pacquiao fight, those are from his fight with Terdsak a fighter he tko'd. Your a newbie to boxing, boxers get bruised, you want safty go play golf.

a few years ago i'd pick Erik Morales without much doubt.

Today i can not. Marquez is not as battle worn as Erik Morales is. Erik is a guy that basically captured his first title at 21 and for most of the decade went one after another after another of fighting the best fighters he could. War after war against great fighters. Taking and receiving with everyone and fights of the year candidate after candiate.

Marquez has been more dormant and has less wear than Morales.

Marquez might be the older man in age, but in the world of Boxing Erik Morales is the grandpa, and Marquez the young hungry fighter.

Perfectly said, would have been great to see them when they were both younger, still a tough call.

I said (Chris) John, not Medina, Mantecas' pressure and volume flyswatter punching made JMM look impressive, a devastating counterpuncher. Gainer simply refused to fight, he made JMM chase him around the ring and miss a lot of punches.
