Yeah good points. I'm a casual so I only watch UFC and was under the impression that best MMA fighters were under that banner.

UFC is fine when it's two guys standing up trying to knock holes out of each other.

I keep tuning into these big UFC fights and it's always two guys on the floor wrestling with each other, it's boring.

what's the difference between that and in boxing where a fighter constantly just grabs and hold?

A lot of these "Boxing fans" are the worse.

They barely can comprehend how punches work and when you add in kicks and grappling their little minds explode.

People who don't know how to play checkers aren't about to understand how chess works.

the difference is constant clinching and grabbing is broken up within a second or two. whereas these dudes are literally laying ontop of each other for entire rounds on end.

Yea I can understand that. I love combat sports in general & boxing will always be my primary combat sport of choice. That said I tend to get amped for more UFC events than boxing events year in year out for quite a few years now.

Boxings greatest failure is trying to constantly make fights bigger vs making them happen in the first place. The UFC does the opposite.

Granted a lot of it is how the structure of each sport has been built, but I do think some of it is just the culture of the cash out that boxing embraces vs the culture of building a more consistent level of quality & competitive matchups which the UFC has embraced along with most every other professional sport that's bigger than boxing in 2020.

ground game is part of mma... bjj, wrestling, etc...

that's pretty much the same as a boxer clinching and holding or being very defensive.. yet yall have no problems with this because "that's part of boxing"...

I mean I get it, but the difference is those boring types in boxing can become PPV headliners & usually get solid TV slots regardless as long as they keep winning & in the UFC they often don't even get on the main card of any event from PPV to cable.

The UFC punishes boring fighters who win. In boxing winning seems to matter most. You're gonna have sh^t non-fun to watch fighters in any combat sport so this is an important thing to make note of.
