This may be right in some cases but as a white man, I can honestly say I've NEVER supported a fighter because of their skin color and I've NEVER discredited a fighter because of their skin color. Anyone that does that is not a real fan because they don't judge based on performance, they judge based on whether the boxer looks like them or not and that is total BS.

I agree and have no reason to believe that you do. However, it's a known fact among boxing promoters and movie stars alike that race sells tickets and break box office records. Just ask Don King and Sylvester Stallone.

Floyd is THE MOST POPULAR boxer EVER. He sold most PPV, went WWE, beat face of UFC, beat every boxer he faced.

He may not be beloved by all, but hes known by all...POPULARITY.

And I live in the US and I'm white. Some of my friends dislike him and whine like the kiddos on this website (cherrypick, etc), but most (white or not) appreciate how good he was.

Yet he was the featured attraction because he was white. The last time that happened in a heavyweight championship bout was back in 1982 between Gerry Cooney vs Larry Holmes who was also white.

I relate to Fury more as a latino, but who cares what I am and what he is. It's about boxing, the fight game. What you can do in the ring, not what you look like. I'll never be so close minded and prejudiced to where I will only root for a person from my town, or who shares my ethnicity simply for those reasons. Ward was across the bay and I was never a fan. There are many fighters I can relate to on certain levels outside of the ring but that is irrelevant when it comes to boxing. Show me you can box.

Fury is a slick, defensive wizard with dynamite in both hands, who can switch stances, fight from any level, and dominate any opponent. He entertains like Ali and loves to fight. A real fight fans fighter.

I've said this about other fighters before and again it rings true with Fury - its impossible to truly love boxing and not like Fury. Hes everything you want in a fighter, who cares if hes from Ecuador, Zaire, Taiwan, or New Zealand.

It's obvious you are attempting to distort the truth with your racial theories but there is no truth to it. The simple truth is, Fury was more of a draw before he fought Wilder and more of a draw after he fought Wilder.

Simply not true; Tyson Fury was hardly a draw back in the U.K. From whence he came.

You are attempting to make everything about race and I agree there is systematic racism in virtually every facet of society but the simple fact is, Fury was hated by most white people in the UK before he dropped out and came back but he won the hearts of fans with his recovery and subsequent success in the ring. You need to understand that there are universal truths and conditions that all people can relate to and this is why Fury has gained popularity, not just because of his resurgence as a top heavyweight but the path that got him there and his down to earth personality which includes his unpretentous family image.

I don't disagree with anything that you just said but to say that race has absolutely nothing to do with Tyson Fury's popularity among white boxing fans is simply being disingenuous and you know it. The television networks and the promoters has to sell a non-white American sport to a white audience. So race has to play a major factor in it whether you fail to acknowledge this fact or not.
