I did not bother to finish reading article after the first few sentences.

1. Fury has been fighting this way in the past. Look at his fight against Klitschko. He uses the same left hand jab/hold right hand punch technique. You can even see Vladimir get upset at one point and try to headbutt Fury.

2. If Fury learned anything in "one camp" it was to revert back to his old ways to win. Fury is a dirty fighter and I do not have a problem with that. If the referee allows it then keep doing what helps you win.

3. Wilder cannot and will not learn anything else in boxing ever in his career. He has never shown any boxing skills and has never had a reason to learn any since he had that powerful right hand.

You've hit the nail on the head. Fury was 'chosen.' He represented the largest and lowest hanging fruit on the tree (biggest reward/lowest risk). He blew up to 28 stone binging on drugs, alcohol and fast food. He then had 2 (let's be honest) garbage fights that must have raised even Wilders eyebrows!

Given what Fury had put his mind and body through and the fact he's never been looked upon as a puncher throughout his entire career he represented the ideal opponent for Wilder at the time.

It was Wilder's opportunity to appease a number of invested interests and fans by taking on and defeating the 'lineal' champion. He was already playing down the fact that Fury was removed from his peak and like Lennox Lewis did with the other Tyson he fully intended on passing it off as if he was dealing with a prime version.

Remember all that Wilder talk about how he wanted no excuses from Fury or his camp after? It was to cement that point, that he beat a prime Tyson Fury. Oh the irony of the excuses in the aftermath! This is why I said it was the very definition of a cherry pick gone wrong.

As for his team, the best thing they did that night was pull him out and save him for another day, and they couldn't even agree about that, some team...

Yes -- we saw Fury laying it on against Wallin when he knew the fight could be stopped for the cut at any time. Kronk style is more of a change of strategy for Fury than learning new techniques.

Wilder might already know how to fight inside in a rudimentary way, but it's a tough ask to bring those skills up to speed in a few months so that they can be relied on in an elite matchup.

I actually feel it would be a mistake for the one-trick pony to try and add more tricks at this late stage of his career. He needs to come in lighter and keep the fight at distance, but it is a tough matchup because of Fury's longer reach and quick reflexes. Big question mark if his lack of gas in the last fight is a permanent thing because of age.

Yeah I get that, Fury's name albeit slightly diminished at the time would help bring in the money but whatever way you cut it he was picked to get beat and to put a big name on Wilder's record for minimal risk. If it was all about the money he would have obviously signed to fight AJ.

Some of what Goosen says can be accomplished but the odds are we won’t know if it will anyway with a guy that outsized Wilder so the long reach for Wilder isn’t really a factor in this fight . When you have a fighter claiming skills don’t matter all these years that’s an entirely separate problem when you have a guy with some insane excuses as well . Taking shortcuts to easier fights was always going to be disastrous some way or other ,had he not narrowly got by Ortiz in 2018 who knows what happens after that one ? The situation is he’s not going to win with any of his sparring partners or same old team ,those guys aren’t around him .
