If you want to believe Floyd COULD have made 144 in this fight, that's your business but I doubt it. I think he was so far over that 2 days prior to the weigh-in, Floyd's camp tried in vain to change the weight back to 147.

Suit yourself, bask in the glory.
You got to be a casual, fight night weight is what they fight at , the fight before Floyd JMM weighed around 144 fight night.

Casuals never understand the differences in weigh-in weight and fight night weight, its this space that allows all the weight class jumping.

You need to understand how these guys dont vary fight night by more than about 4 lbs, and its been shown this way all through their careers.

Yes he just played the advantage because Canelo offered it a year earlier so Floyd stuck it too him, when Floyd was asked about the catch weight he gave an honest answer he said " It will make the task easier" Only casuals think its the all and end all because they paraphrase each other like parrots.

It made no difference to this fight at all and thats why JMM has never ever wanted a rematch even after he Koed Manny he wanted no part of Floyd.

Yes, it was impressive to beat someone that good, that completely; but if they weighed the same going into the fight, and Juan had more time to adjust to the higher weight limit, the bout may very well have been more competitive.
If you remember correctly that fight got postponed for a Floyd injury so Marquez even had more time to get adjusted for the weight.

Regardless skills won this fight. Marquez is a great counterpuncher but is not a good pressure fighter and is not that fast either. He has great timing though

Floyd never weighed that much in his career. Would be surprising if true

No recent fighter would beat JMM manny and Alvarez as comfortably as Floyd did. Their combined effort led to 2 to 5 rounds won out of 36 vs Floyd
This was the first thing that popped into my mind. Two quality fighters. Styles make fights but still a testament to Floyd's abilities.

It was a one time thing. He weighed 132-148lbs on fight night between 130 and 147 from his first fight to the Hatton fight. In the Marquez fight he clearly weighed 165lbs, just using the eye test. After the JMM fight he took some heat with his fight night weight and allowed HBO to show it again, where he weighed 150lbs on average in every fight after the JMM fight. He bulked up to 165lbs to bully and wrestle JMM around the ring, who weighed a mere 140lbs on fight night (just the eye test, clearly JMM went down 4lbs from the weigh in to be more comfortable). Mayweather basically had a 25lb weight advantage on JMM. JMM never stood a chance.

That was a literal Super Middleweight vs a Junior Welterweight. Mayweather could’ve joined the 168 Super 6 and take on fighters his own size but was scared as hell and picked on little old Marquez.

I am trolling btw. I am copying posters who were saying Mayweather was 160+ lbs on fight night vs JMM. In reality Mayweather was probably the same he’s always been 148-151lbs.

Haha I was reading and like "what..." XD XD XD

But ya Floyd always weighed 147-152ish. Even in his JMW fights he never got above 152 IIRC so while he was physically bigger with longer reach than JMM he did not weight bully him.

Nothing against JMM - fantastic fighter and possibly a Top 10 ATG counter puncher ever, but him being smaller he wouldve never matched up well with Floyd

The sight of JMM on the night he weighed 150 was a shock to everyone. Claiming that JMM was anywhere near that weight years earlier against Floyd, makes you look a bit silly

Marquez will never give Floyd any credit for that fight.
