Calzaghe retired undefeated but Froch retired with the better resume and is more respected
There was no money or hype for Calzaghe to face Froch in 2008. Froch was trying to make a name for himself (and he did actually do that).

Calzaghe on the other hand wanted his pay out fights. He was getting around $1,000,000 per fight with Warren, and when the Hopkins and Jones fights presented themselves, it was around 5x per fight to what he was used to getting paid.

In the end, a total no brainer.

Have another look at the Ward fight, particularly the mid rounds. McCracken was having to try very hard to motivate froch, who's whole post fight actions and demeanour indicated ward broke him.
I don't see froch beating calzaghe, Alvarez, or Golovkin tbh although he'd have made for a decent opponent for each of them. His size and reach might have posed a few problems for Canelo and GGG but I see a peak calzaghe speed and movement being far too much for him.

Fitch should try make a case for himselfi being greater than jc by having better resume, not h2h.
Froch has a case for being greater.

That's the gracious and humble Cobra we all know and love!

His ****sure and dismissive persona is almost laughable. I give Froch credit, he was a warrior in the ring and he always gave his full effort in trying to maul his opponent. That being said, I can't recall rooting for him in many fights (only time I remember pulling for him was against Durrell).

I think Calzaghe puts on a boxing clinic against Carl. Canelo would likely stop him in a very physical, violent affair. I won't forget the look on his face after Groves dropped him in their first fight. It was an overhead camera angle and he looked like his soul left his body.

Remember that knockdown very well. He was in a terrible state, worse than Groves when Foster waved it off.

With Froch's fragile ego if Foster would have waved it off in the 1st he'd still be in therapy and we'd have all been denied the 'too big, too strong' mantra...

I think froch would've given Calzaghe a tough time. Especially against the version that got dropped pretty hard early vs old faded versions of Jones and Hopkins. Froch hit harder than both at that stage. Canelo is too small for froch. He'd use his size to wear down Canelo and possibly stop him late when Canelo's poor stamina usually kicks in.

Calzaghe beat a 44 year old Hopkins and you’re going to try to tell me age was not a factor??

                    And that fight was disputed

yeah 44 year old hopkins landed the cleaner harder punches. calzaghe outworked him with slaps.

Just slightly higher output from hopkins and he would have won it

Is he going though a late mid-life crisis? His ego has suddenly found new life lately. Calzaghe would have out-boxed him. Canelo likely outworks him for a decision win. The only reason some of these posters are so high on Froch is because Ward beat him. By talking up Froch they think it somehow elevates Ward's wins.
