Ward beats Calzaghe. You aren’t telling me anything that I don’t already know.

As for Hopkins being old, let’s see, after losing to Calzaghe, Hopkins went on to beat
    1. Pavlik
    2. Roy Jones
    3. Jean Pascal (twice)
    4. Tavoris Cloud for a belt. Not to mention Cloud was 18 years younger
    5. Beibut Shumenov for another belt.

Hopkins got beat by Calzaghe and there’s no shame in that.

"Froch was aggressively chasing Calzaghe for a fight."

Froch only chased Joe after he retired. It's well documented that McCracken and Team Froch were offered the fight twice and turned it down.

      Pull the other one.

He doesn't think he can be knocked out?

I know boxers have to have great self belief but George Groves basically knocked him out.

Froch is dilusional he always kept his hands to low and would of been overwhelmed by Joe's hand speed, a big points win or late TKO for Joe. Taylor was beating him until he ran out of gas in the closing minutes, Kessler beat him comfortably in their first fight, Groves was robbed by a poor refereeing in their first fight and had totally dominated him. Ward who dominated him has no power so this claim of his if you dont punch hard I'll close you down is all in his head. He self appointed himself as Britians best fighter of all time shows you how dilusional he really is, OK Froch its time to wake up from dreamland and smell the coffee.

Froch sure had a cool robotic way of mixing it up, he even looked cool landing his big shots in super hero fashion. Marvel & DC artists could’ve used him for his dramatic pronounced poses as he fired shots that would miss it’s mark.

But I don’t think that style would’ve given Calzaghe much problems. Imo, Froch would’ve been waaay too telegraphic in his delivery for a guy like Calzaghe who counters with like 5/6/7/8 punch combinations that would’ve probably left Froch clueless as to where he’d be able to land his heavy counter bombs.

But, hey you never know. Froch was a tough and determined guy that never entertained discouragement in the least bit - even if he was losing a fight.

Against Joe he could’ve ended up being more formidable than the old past prime version of Hopkins that did pretty well for himself.....all in all, imo, I got Calzaghe taking him through a remedial class tutorial on points (maybe not to school) with that SICK stinging punch output..

I think the new improved Alvarez would’ve busted him up!.....Again, a little too slow and robotic for an Alvarez smart enough to close the distance and who fires hard fast combos....But I ain’t sleepin’ on Froch though - he was a beast!

Calzaghe was past hes own prime by then, he wasn't a young fighter, and had worse hands than Floyd. Nobody disputes that fight, just look at Bhop laying on the floor pretending he was low blowed, trying to get hes breathe back. Then Bhop went on to beat Pavlik. This Ward who "wrecks" Calzaghe, is he the same one who barely got by hype job Kovalev the first time? Ward Calzaghe is a good close fight, stop bull****ting.

Wouldn’t “ripe” represent prime or at the best? moldy or rotten would represent past it. Too green would be unripe?

Canelo will be 30 this year and we can assume he’s in his PRIME version so his selections here forward with new young champs or champs his age only improves his resume? BJS, Smith, Plant, Benavidez, Andrade, Charlo. They’ve all about the same age with the exception of Benavidez being the youngest. Would you consider any of these fighters “ripe?”

There’s a reason why many of us Canelo fans never wanted a GGG trilogy. Their last fight was good enough. Yet GGG diehards disapproved and now they approve GGG having a tune up...

For me, prime Calzaghe decisions a prime Froch based on speed, punch output and energy. Could imagine a very frustrating, stinging night for Froch.

But if the 2 fighters were to meet when Froch badly wanted it, it could have been a lot closer, especially as Calzaghe would have been struggling to make 168.

Can't fault Calzaghe though, the money and exposure were over in the US with Hopkins and Jones Jnr. If you knew you only had 2 fights in you and wanted to maximise revenue and legacy, Froch at the time would have been close to the bottom of your list.

Froch just comes across all insecure and a little bitter when he keeps ****ing on about himself. Imagine if the ref had waved off the first Groves fight in the first round when he was all over the place. He'd have NEVER lived that down.

Calzaghe retired undefeated but Froch retired with the better resume and is more respected
I would rate Kessler over Bute and Groves – so I think that's Froch's best win. He went 1-1 with Kessler post prime.

Zags spanked Kessler in his prime, and clean too (without headbutting etc a la Ward).

Froch responded “his athleticism isn’t on par with mine plus he never fought anyone like me. id beat him to the punch all night before knocking him out mid rounds, he never fought infront of 80,000 fans at wembley either”
