I liked Froch while he was active. He was a bad man, but he was tamed by Ward, who he said couldn't punch. But he was unable to close the distance and land his uppercut or his right hand, something he just said he does when a guy can't punch. So i have to conclude he would have been unable to do it to Calzaghe, too. Maybe Calzaghe wasn't a big puncher, but he slapped awfully hard, and would have slapped Froch for 12 rounds. As for beating Canelo, which version? If you're talking the old green canelo from back when Froch was active, who knows? Canelo nowadays- not so sure about that one. It’s likely Calzaghe would outwork him in a clear UD, and canelo might outbox him for a MD. Froch has a granite chin but his skills are pedestrian compared to both names, and both calzaghe and canelo have similar grit. Froch had a great run, but he was definitely an overachiever.
