I enjoy watching the Gvozdyk vs Beterbiev bout. It's a classic between Euros at LHW. HOWEVER, I was VERY disappointed in Gvozdyk's accuracy in that fight. Just utter swinging and missing he looked amateur. Given the style I saw, it's almost as if Gvozdyk was too lanky for Beterbiev even though he doesn't look it. Gvozdyk looked stiff, and lacked power. I did like how Gvozdyk had a strategy to consistently jab Beterbiev to the body, and Beterbiev did get clipped in that fight that had him stagger for a couple of seconds.

NOW, here's how I gauge and why I want Canelo vs Beterbiev. Canelo HITS HARDER than Gvozdyk. Canelo's upper torso is stronger and more athletic than Gvozdyk's. In fact Canelo is like a mini Beterbiev, but faster because of style and weight. That's a good combination to beat Beterbiev.

I foresee Canelo also hitting Beterbiev's body if the theory is that Euro's don't like to be hit on the body. There might be some truth in that with their fundamentals in defense vs the west where Soviets are more head hunters than focusing on protecting their bodies.

But yeah, I think Gvozdyk's style wasn't good against Beterbiev as well as lacking power.

In all honesty , I think his loss in the amateurs still lingers in Gvozdyk’s head
Your right about Canelo being a miniature Beterbiev in some sense , but that’s where Beterbiev’s footwork will come in handy
I hope your not one of those who thinks Beterbiev is just a mauler

WTF are you going on about this time. I can't make heads or tails out of this blather.

No credit for fighting Beterbiev at 168 though fervent Canelo fans will no doubt find the logic to give some... if it happened...which it won't...I hope

          OH but they will
I don’t think it’s possible for Beterbiev to get down to 168 anyways

BEterbiev never fought anyone like Canelo. An elusive tank with speed and I could see Beterbiev getting stopped or fighting poorly to the Championship rounds. Of course Canelo can get stopped too. I'm banking on Canelo's performance at the full 175 with the best body punching performance you'd ever see. It's not an easy fight for Canelo, but timing and reflexes favor the better counterpuncher.

the bait is that Canelo vs Beterbiev wouldn't happen at 168. I want people to complain about a 168 fight so that when it happens at 175 they'd look ******. =) That's why I brought up the Ward comparison to show double standards.

The same can be said the other way around
He was worried of the Kovi’s return fire , imagine Beterbiev
Canelo , although is not Eastern European , also doesn’t like to get ****** to the body
And doesn’t look quite comfortable fighting off his back foot

Sure, but like I said, I judge by the style of fights. Don't you remember those awkward straights from Gvozdyk always missing even at close range? I'd bank on better intuition from Canelo at close range and dipping out.

The fight needs to get made assserp. But there's a real problem with the pandemic. It's a surreal state and it sucks we all have to acknowledge sports being on hold
