Its not irrelevant Dan! Sorry... It shows performance at a certain level. For example, if we were having a similar discussion about Jones prior to Tarver things were not the same. Jones was so far ahead of the competition that he never got touched. Obviously thats not the case with all fighters who fight a mean of the good fighters out there, now is it?
Was Rahman top 10? Doubt it.

I had Toney winning the first Peter fight but it wasn’t a robbery.

Holyfield was shot so who cares about that? Wasn’t anywhere close to the top of the division at that point.

Roy Jones is a one in a million example. Every single fighter ever except probably 1% or less have been touched in a fight. Roy himself did against Montel Griffin anyway.

So yes, it’s a meaningless point. Boxers get hit, it’s in the name.

A 200lb toney is not a prime toney.

It was not only getting hit, Bellew was winning the fight. It showed a material weakness in Usyk. Rahman was up there...I don't know if he was but I think he was in the top ten. No it was not a robbery but Peter was highly regarded at the time, and even was a threat to Vlad (knocked him down a few times).

Holly always had the potential to be dangerous... Not saying he was prime but he did manage a streak of wins post (yes he lost the next fight) the Toney fight.

Boxers get reevaluated perpetually. When one watches a fight, after 20 seconds of the first round often, an announcer will determine that a fighter is "scared", "fighting the wrong/right fight", etc... When we look at judging relative merits performance we look at how fighters do against different levels of competition. It is not "getting hit" rather it is determining if they have a blueprint that can be exposed in future outings.

Ironickly, Toney, who showed many inconsistent outings, was able to fight well in higher divisions...A lot like hie mentor Archie Moore. Usyk is going down that path now. We saw him falter already against Bellew who is a gutsy, if limited fighter...

I think this conversation will improve when we see how Usyk does. Chisora is a great opponent and will tell us a lot.

I think prime Toney at 160 would have big chance to beat GGG and Canelo.

Cruiserweight Toney is fat one, so I don`t think he could be somebody like Usyk.
