Thoughts on Sweet Pea vs GGG

Gomez and Jones were battle worn from tough fights over the course of their career. Sanchez brutalized Gomez. Gomez and Jones were getting towards the end of it. Gomez only fought four more fights after Nelson, going 3-1and getting KO'd by a journeyman.Comment

If I'm on ignore why are you responding to me? Just another example of how ****** you are. Comparing that version of Gomez to the shot Roy Jones confirms it.
Carry on with your white supremacists agenda lol.Last edited by joseph5620; 03-12-2020, 09:24 AM.Comment

Gomez was on a 9 fight win streak and had one loss in his career before fighting Nelson. He was a world champion. He was also coming off a big win over Juan Laporte. Jones had been knocked out by Tarver, Johnson, and had lost his last two fights including a first round KO to Danny Green before he fought Lebdev. The fact that you're claiming they were in the same place in their careers is another example of your boxing ignorance and overall ******ity.Last edited by joseph5620; 03-12-2020, 09:23 AM.Comment

What a ****** comparison😂😂
Gomez was a defending world champion and went on to win a world title in his very next fight.
Jones hadn’t held a title for years when Lebedev and Enzo beat him and he was in his 40’s. Gomez was only 30.
Pathetic man... I thought you were a better poster than this.Comment

Possibly a worse comparison than the OP comparing Azumah Nelson to Murray and Lemieux.😂😂Gomez was on a 9 fight win streak and had one loss in his career before fighting Nelson. He was a world champion. He was also coming off a big win over Juan Laporte. Jones had been knocked out by Tarver, Johnson, and had lost his last two fights including a first round KO to Danny Green before he fought Lebdev. I agree with ya man...well said...people should be appreciating him a bit more for what he has done, but maybe that will happen in time...in any event good post...and on the weight thing, he turned pro basically when he was full grown so he just hasn't really had much of a reason to move up, 160 is a premier division and no big fights materialized above that weight...would like to see how he fares about that weight though, maybe we will still get a glimpse of that.GGG triggers a lot of people just because of who he is. Think of all the people who hate GGG just because:
Canelo
Mexican style
Hes white
Hes eastern euro
Doesnt have a flashy style
154-168 in 2012 ffs
But when you actually bring up facts a lot of those reasons to hate GGG falls apart. GGG is polarizing.
Think about it like this, if GGG wasnt that good why do so many people FIND reasons to hate him?
GGGs only criticism is that he never moved up in weight but moving up in weight should never be a criticism. Some guys are just built to move up and some arent. GGG has made weight every single time and hes not a big MW at all. Style wise hes best suited for 160-168 but at 38 I doubt he can make the leap because of his style.
Its like why smaller fighters retire or lose sooner than bigger fighters. When reflexes fade so does the fighter. Power is the last thing to go but any speed GGG did have? Gone. He just cant time you with how slow hes gotten.
I think the resumes are pretty similar. Contrary to "popular belief" GGGs resume isnt bad at all but its definitely not great. People pick and choose what they want to remember.Comment

Where are you from originally?
And this is why I shake my head at so many comments on here...comparing Benevidez, at this time, to what GGG has done is the crazy thing lol...GGG has done a lot of good stuff and is at the end of his career...his run stacks up well with most any other if we look at it rather neutrally.because people like you write thse posts, and in fairness they dislike the lies not GGG himself.
GGG is a respectable titleholder who won 2 titles in the ring so far, a 2 time titlist. Theres nothing to hate there.
But if David Benavdez lost and rewon his title this year, people shouting "hey hes the best supermiddleweight ever" would be derided in the same way.
In any event, I don't really care lol...was hoping to have a little discussion about those fights I mentioned but people see GGG's name on here and want to chop it down at every point so it turned that way..oh wellComment

...dude he won a 15 round MD, at home in PR, vs Rocky Lockridge...and then got KOed by Alfredo Layne in his next fight. What a ****** comparison😂😂

Not really sure why you're still in this thread anyway...but how can anyone who claims to keep it real really try and say Gomez was at his best around that time...ridiculous man.
This is what people on here do all the time...they start out 1st with what they want to be true...and defend that by any means necessary, not taking into account what actually happened.
Just say - Gomez was a good win but it probably wasn't quite as good as it looks on paper - it's not that hard...but it's online so people want to get catty and act like a know it all.Comment

And in Gomez's next fight...he went 15 and got a gift vs Lockridge at home...and then got Koed in his next and last real fight vs Alfredo Layne...it was a good win for Nelson but not quite as great as it looks if we want to keep it real...which no one really does.Gomez was on a 9 fight win streak and had one loss in his career before fighting Nelson. He was a world champion. He was also coming off a big win over Juan Laporte.
