Canelo is the one making offers like he has a belt, when he doesn't. All that Smith, Saunders get is Money. He doesn't hold a belt at 168 and never did. What does beating Canelo right now do for Saunders or Smith? Just another title defense, except its a career high payday. It's also a high risk title defense as they could lose, so no wonder they're asking "for the moon" as Canelo put it.

Same with Floyd right now. It'd be interesting if fighters started pricing themselves out on purpose, to the point that a Floyd or canelo have no choice but to over pay.

Especially in Floyd's case. McGregor doesn't need Floyd. He can wait another year and do his UFC thing, and Floyd will still be waiting because who else is he gonna fight? Unless he plans on taking actual risks against world level boxers, he needs McGregor or Khabib. They don't need him.

    Great fughin post
After this , we can close the thread
One more thing , this was all brought upon by the master himself Floyd , Canelo just following as will the next cash cow

Before Beterbiev sign with Top Rank, he had the same offer from Eddie Hearn, he would have signed with Eddie Hearn if they guaranteed him a fight with Usyk, after 2 weeks they refused, so he went to top rank to fight for unification (kovalev or Gvozdyk) instead.

Its unfortunate ppl call everyone a bum nowadays. It has gotten so bad that we must live in the weakest era of boxing if every fighter that loses and every champ is a bum. I thought GGG won the first and lost the second. Imagine if these fans existed earlier when great fighters would literally lose to lesser fighters at a higher frequency because they boxed so much more. Boxing would of never developed as a sport and would be much more akin to homeless bum fights.

Because he's too small and would get murdered. Same reason RJJ fought Ruiz for the HW strap. Once you start to stretch yourself and go against fighters you have physical disadvantage against, fighters are smart about it. Canelo is not a LHW. His natural weight has always been 160-168 (even during 154/155 years). He's short, but VERY wide. He rehydrated to low 170s when he was 21, which is what MWs typically rehydrate to. LHW is too much for him. More than that, Beterbiev, despite being significantly older, is a LARGE LHW. Artur fought at HW in the amateurs, beating Michael Hunter and losing to Usyk.

Golovkin hasn’t got the juice (or inclination) to force fighters to cripple themselves to get the fight.

Right. Canelo doesn’t “HAVE” to do anything, and certainly nobody can make him. He’s the pope. He’s not the most likeable guy, but ironically that’s what I kinda like about him. He makes awful tecate commercials, forces everyone to listen to him sing off key. But he’s a great fighter, and keeps improving. I’d have loved to have seen the Beterbiev fight for sure. He’s a rough, thudding, push forward fighter. I’m cdn, but I’d want that fight because I think Nelo has a real chance.

This is not a criticism however as many champions have done this and will continue to do this. Now I am not a great Canelo fan but I can appreciate his talent and skill, there is nothing wrong with what Canelo has done. I can appreciate others having a differing view but criticism of a fighter not fighting in a higher weight class unless he chooses is I feel a bit silly. Using this logic we can say why is Beterbiev not calling out Usyk, Fury or Joshua.

Canelo will not fight at 175 until his body outgrows 168 or he sees another opportunity at 175 where the reward outweighs the risk. Beterbiev is simply too much of a risk at this stage with minimal reward. In 2 years time though the situation may be different.
