All their wins were only guys basically on the level of Andy Lee or Lemiuex etc..
So Saunders isn’t any less of a worthy opponent than Jacobs was. His resume is arguably better than Jacobs was.
While you are right, GGG did had the “most feared” label going into the Canelo fight, although the Jacobs performance made him look more vulnerable.
Jacobs was riding high in what looked like a KO that ended Peter Quillin’s career, destroying Sergio Mora a couple of times, having a very good performance vs someone who was predicted to KO him, GGG (even by me), and then in hindsight also seeing Derevyanchenko’s performance vs both Jacobs and GGG (I thought he beat GGG), it’s fair to say Derevyanchenko was also a good win going into the Canelo fight.
So Jacobs had quite the career resurgence going into the Canelo fight. Nobody saw him as the guy who lost to Pirog anymore, everyone was basing his chances vs Canelo based on his recent performances. And he did okay vs Canelo losing 115-113 on two cards. He let his hands go and tried to win on activity but he just wasn’t very accurate at all.
