Who's the biggest hype job of the last 10 years?

I don’t think Golovkin or Wilder were hype jobs. Getting a medal in the olympics, becoming world champion, Making title defenses? I don’t think anyone who accomplishes that is a hype job. Hype job is really a term I don’t like to use. I guess if I had to dig really deep for a hype job I’d maybe say someone like Gerry Cooney. Beat a few guys who were past their prime and lost every time he stepped up. Still a big fan of Cooney though.
Maybe overhyped? Someone like Adrien Broner who has a larger fan base than normal because of out of the ring antics? I guess it’s subjective. Worldstarhiphop made Broner famous

ATG boxers wouldn’t be ATGs if they were only good for 3-4 years. Show the fans at LEAST a decade of your excellence.
This dude got the top spot in the P4P list, placed there by fans and writers wanting to look like they know more boxing than anyone else. And this dude proves his worth by fighting a dude who was 29-29.
I do not remember in my entire time as a boxing fan from the mid 1990s to present, as a baby boy to a 31 year old, seeing a worse opponent chosen by a top 10 P4P fighter, let alone a #1 P4P fighter. And his fight immediately before and after that weren’t all that either.
Do you imagine the backlash Mayweather or Pacquiao would have gotten from everyone if they had chosen to fight some dude who was 29-29 when they were considered the best?
The best thing that happened in boxing in the 2010s decade was Wanglek or whatever his name is, destroying the little hypejob like he did. That was so gratifying to watch. It was up there with Maidana humiliating Broner, and JMM finally getting his win vs Pacquiao.

Anyone who thinks Froch is scared of any MW is literally on drugs. When the guy fought basically every SMW in a SMW division that was deemed as a top 3 weight class at the time, and he fought all types of styles too, not just cherrypicking guys with no power, “Mexican style”, or some Steve Rolls, Dominic Wade, or some dude coming up from 2 weight classes down like Kell Brook.
My point was to say that a lot of people, and a lot of them non-GGG fans, and some of them peers of GGG, were really giving GGG a lot of props when he was in his prime...the comments by Froch and BJS indicate that.
Below is an article from Froch btw before GGG-Canelo 1...picked Canelo to win, which we know didn't really happen...but he also said 'no one has really given GGG the credit or respect he deserves', among other flattering things about GGG, so that is pretty high praise I think...also mentioned that team GGG did contact him about a fight but for him timing was all wrong.
Let's deal with facts on here not emotion man.

And I didn’t say he’s an ATG, I said Gonzalez has ATG level skills, albeit one-dimensional(never seen him fighting consistently backing up). The reason’s he wouldn’t be an ATG is a lacking resume, although very underrated and very good. But same reason a lot of highly skilled fighter’s don’t go on to be All time Greats. Discipline, consistency, manufacturing (knowing when to fight certain guys). Skillwise he is one of the greatest fighters. And he was pfp #1 because boxing was in a lull and there was literally no one better at the time. Gonzalez fought a guy 29-29 when he was pfp #1? I don’t think so..or don’t remember that.
You seem a bit emotional, lets relax a bit. Didn’t know you harbored so much hate for the guy.Last edited by SplitSecond; 02-28-2020, 03:39 PM.

You lot talk like Gonzalez is Brandon Rios or Margarito. His defense, is top tier. He got ko’d because he’s an aggresive fighter and everyone loses, many by ko, ATG or not.
