    Wow...that's way better than expected.

Most people here predicted about 500K would be great. Given the conditions these days, the fights get streamed illegally online, it is there on youtube within a short time. I think the 2m mentioned by Bob was just to create hype and even he knew it won't do that. He did mention the "break-even" to be 800K buys. So, it means everyone made their expected profit but didn't get bonuses. What about UK and other PPVs? and TV rights? and sponsorships? The live gate did ~17m which is outstanding. Its been quite some time for a HW bout to make so much money.

When was the last time a HW fight had 800K PPV buys in the US? How much did Joshua vs Wlad make on US PPV?

The fight lost money point blank paid Wilder and fury 56M combined and media reports are it needed to sell 1M PPVs to break even. Even Bob Arum who was probably lying trying to lower the bar said the fight needed 850K to break even but was expecting 2M. lol So by Arum's own words this fight lost money. All the money guaranteed to the fighters all that money and resources both ESPN and FOX poured in and they couldn't even crack 1M buys and lost money SMH

I guess, but if Im greedy, i shoot for 2.5 mil buys at $30 and make a helluva lot more more. Or 1.5 mil buys at $50. Less buys at higher price is just not good business sense.

I personally dont mind the boxing cards. Boxing cant match UFC cards. The casual is buying for the main event. It would definitely help, but the $80 price tag causes ppl to not even consider buying it regardless of how stacked it is.

Surprised. I expected atleast 1 Million.

Goes to show massive of draws Mayweather and Pacquaio were in their day.

Both fighters def deserve credit for trying to publicize the event. Both answers the same questions over and over on every platform. I cringe at the idea of crawford and spence trying to market their fight, both are pretty mundane when it comes to interviews.

I predicted half million. So 750,000 isn’t bad.

But I had read an article on here that had Bob Arum saying this fight needed around 800,000 buys to just break even. And he was almost having me convinced it’s would do more than a million.

With that said I guess this fight can be labeled a failure? Sad to admit for a fight that did 750,000 buys in these times but the amount of money they threw at this event for advertising had to have broken a record.

Second of all, if you are dumb enough to believe they lost money on this, that is your problem.

I don't buy for a second that the people behind this event were actually counting on 1m+ buys. That would be a foolish strategy for two guys who were not established PPV draws.
They both got 25mil guarantees. Math isnt hard.

It was actually higher lol Mike copinger says they weren't guaranteed 25M that they were both guaranteed 28M not 25. But either way 50-56M in main event purses alone.

                  https://www.si.com/johnwallstreet/sp.../wilder-fury-2

Initially, the belief was that Wilder-Fury 2 needed to do between 1 million and 1.1 million homes for the fight to break-even, but Arum says with closed circuit sales (think: bars, restaurant chains) and gate receipts coming in higher than the models anticipated, break-even is now between 800,000 and 850,000 buys.

Arum who is probably lying tried to lower the bar to 850K for break even when the real break was reportedly over 1M based on all these costs and high guaranteed purses and all the money that went into the massive push by both ESPN and FOX owning the rights. So if you go by media reports of break even or even if you take Arum at his word it didn't hit the break even amount. The fight lost money.

Smart move from ESPN to bundle the PPV with ESPN+. They would've lost a lot more money in customer acquisition if they hadn't done that.
