There aren't any other opponents that can make you as much as a Canelo fight. The only reason to turn the fight down would be because the clauses in the offer are such that the opponent feels he has no chance to win.Dont be naive. Boxing never had this much money from every angle, so everyone has options, in the past you want that check theirs only one route but today you got Mikey garcia getting 7 Million after a lost. All these boxers are on that TImithy bradley gameplan, just stay pampered and collect them decent checks.
It just doesn't make sense that all these guys are turning down what is allegedly 3-4 times their highest payday.Comment

Hearn says the fighter who’s likely accepts the least amount of money will probably land the fight.
For a few months now we’ve been waiting on the word of who was going to win the Canelo Alvarez sweepstakes to become his opponent for May 2nd. Regardless of the opponent Canelo chooses, they’re essentially assured to earn a career high payday, so many prominent names haven’t scheduled their next fight until they know for sure they won’t get the call.
Two of those names are super middleweight titleholders Callum Smith and Billy Joe Saunders. And despite it being well-known that both fighters have been hoping to be selected for the bout, it came a a pretty big surprise yesterday when it was reported that Smith actually turned down the fight.
Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn, who represents both Smith and Saunders, tells Sky Sports that both fighters are still interested in the Canelo fight, but they’ve thus far rejected the offer currently on the table.
“There is a market rate that has been established, unfortunately for [Canelo’s promoters] Golden Boy. Callum and Billy Joe are not even asking for that market rate. I don’t know which one Canelo prefers. But I do know both Callum and Billy Joe want the fight. The one who gets the fight? Probably the one who takes it for the least money.”
Hearn admits that they have been offered a substantial sum of money for the Canelo fight, but that it’s less money than past Canelo opponents have received. That seems like it could prove to be a continued sticking point if DAZN hasn’t seen the ROI they’ve been hoping for and are now tightening the purse strings a little. But whether or not that is actually the case, Hearn says Canelo is in the driver’s seat in these negotiations and that he’ll also have to look for alternative fights for Smith and Saunders — probably against one another.
“If neither get the fight, they have to unify [against each other].”
However this ultimately works out, we should expect to see some definitive news one way or the other in the next coming weeks. May is just around the corner...Comment

According to Hearn, Smith and BJS turned down Oscar's initial offer, which was the same amount for both guys, but negotiations are still ongoing, and the one who ends up accepting the lowest offer will probably get the fight. There aren't any other opponents that can make you as much as a Canelo fight. The only reason to turn the fight down would be because the clauses in the offer are such that the opponent feels he has no chance to win.

That’s the times we’re living in now these guys are ******* they have zero confidence in themselves like you said you didn’t see this with Floyd dlh because those opponents had self belief and they made less than what these canelo opponents are being offered.
Again that’s the times we’re living in Charlos bjs smith etc are ***** made plain n simple a guy like Maidana would have taken half that money to whoop Floyd’s ass.Comment

first off the "Clauses" are your assumptions but anwyays I kill that noise tooThere aren't any other opponents that can make you as much as a Canelo fight. The only reason to turn the fight down would be because the clauses in the offer are such that the opponent feels he has no chance to win.

Mayweather had teh same clauses and fighters STILL took the fight, Wear handicap gloves, drain yourself 2lbs, catchweights etc etc.
The only difference here is MORE MONEY available to fighters, they can NOT fight canelo and still make MILLIONS where in the past that wasnt true.
Why make the canelo fight and risk/lose your 0 right now for x amount when in 3-4 fights you can make that same amount and CANELO OPTIONS is still possible down the road for MORE MONEY. thats all these figthers mentality, take charlo for instance, he been yapping canelo name but NOW ITS CLEAR HE HAD NO INTENTIONS OF EVEN TRYING TO GET THAT FIGTH MADE!. These fools are on the stuff the bank mode and its cool, just recognize it as that and stop trying to muddy it as "CLAUSES" lmfao.Comment

I think we both know, as long time boxing fans, that this isn't about confidence in your abilities. I think its more about what is included in the deal. That’s the times we’re living in now these guys are ******* they have zero confidence in themselves like you said you didn’t see this with Floyd dlh because those opponents had self belief and they made less than what these canelo opponents are being offered.

Athletes in all sports have gotten wiser when it comes to fitness. !10-15 years ago, ODH could make Bhop come in at 157 and bhop would jump at it. I think that has changed. Now guys understand if there is a rehydration clause or a weight restriction (just an example not stating this was the case with Canelo's offers) they aren't willing to give that up and fight on the other guys network because that reduces their chance to win significantly.
Maidana maybe only had to wear the gloves. Maybe his offer didn't come with rehydration or weight clauses.Comment
Wait a minute. We are not talking about Matchroom Sport here. Who've admitted that they perceive their fighters as ****** by owning them. Which is why Al Haymon refuses to allow his boxers to fight on their platform because he fears they may try to steal them.
