I am in no way trying to muddy anything. I am trying to offer a reason why guys would turn down the cash cow when they never did this in the past. You even point out that the cash cows in the past had things in the contract, "clauses" for lack of a better term, and that didn't prevent guys from taking the fights.
The top names seem to be getting more money but that hasn't trickled down to guys like Smith such that he can turn down a Canelo fight that, according to ODH, is 3-4 times what he ever made.
Charlo allegedly was made an offer yet we didn't hear about it for a year, and only heard about it when the talks for Murata were announced. But that is another debate for another time.
