And I agree what would have happened if Cotto wasnt lineal at the time ??how long would canelo have stayed at 154 ?? How long could he have ?? Sorry my mind had me thinking this was a weak middleweight division so I naively ignored the word history associated with it , which is crazy . I was thinking historical significance not historically . But as I said before every hit and miss with fights or potential fights changes the course of history so I kind of debunked my own debate hahaha
Yeah I mean, not saying Sergio's run was great or anything to write home about.

He had some decent wins and was a fine talent at its peak just think that win over Pavlik was the catalyst for new things.

First enuff . No one really saw that coming either . Even tho pavlik hadnt done much to prove he had gotten over the hopkins disaster .

I still can’t look past Joshua klitschko. Huge fight, could be argued as a passion of the baton, epic fight and most importantly of all - the arrival of Joshua has pulled a whole new audience to boxing and made boxing popular like it hasn’t been for at least a decade

great pick. that one sided schooling motivated Canelo to be as great as his daddy Floyd.

Not necessarily the biggest fight financially, but the most significant one in terms changing the boxing landscape, signaling the beginning of a new era or the end of an era?
Nothing really stands out, all the top fights kinda bump around in the same tier ranking but I will throw Lomachenko's first 3 fights in there - a pro debut against a top 10 ranked fighter in a 10 round fight, 2nd fight for a title, and 3rd fight winning a title. I think that threw the script that amateur boxers need time to acclimate to the pro business in the garbage.

Klitschko was a fossil coming off a one year layoff and a loss.

                - -Manny knocking out Oscar.

In one fell swoop, he not only knocked out May promoter, but he emasculated the Sissyboy by salvaging the same big $ fight the boy ducked out of in the middle of promotions.

And Manny jumped two divisions to do it. And that just the start.

True but it was prior to 2010.

Forgot about AJ-Ruiz, probably one of the biggest upsets in modern boxing history. It also brought lots of casuals and interest in the Heavyweight division again.
