To TS: You think no one ever thought to add more padding? Like you just figured out some incredible game changer in a sport old as dust... Do you not understand the physics involved? More padding isn't going to protect you other than from cuts maybe. Noses will get broken and your headaches will get worse as you can hit each other harder and harder with more padding (not hurting your hands but hurting each others brain matter)

If u just wanna go hard then expect to get hurt . And maybe u guys need to learn some defence or just suck it up . You are scrapping you are going to get hurt it's the nature of the beast . It is what it is . What u need is good protective head gear not bigger gloves . And pros spar hard all the time . Just not close to a fight do u have any idea the gym wars I have witnessed ?? Some of the best fights happen in the gym and that's a fact .
These are the best 2 replies I think.

Becusse u would be asking your trainer if u were a fighter not a boxing board
Ok so there are 2 questions:
      1. Is it possible to make a glove that is more protective than Winning and does more padding really help?
      2. Would it make sense?

As you are adressing the second question: its never good to get knocked out. Its never good to break your nose and ribs. It will always set you back and weaken your chin. But sparring hard is the most beneficial. Being as close to the real fight as possible without seriously hurting each other would be the optimum, obviously.

        .
        1. The thread is not called 'There should be...', its called 'Why are there no...' So no need to be salty, it is a question.
        2. I'm quite educated about physics. More padding decreases the risk for broken noses substantially. As a thought experiment lets take it to an extreme: Imagine you had 1 meter of super soft light foam glued to your knuckle, you believe you can break somebodies nose? It takes 30G to break the average nasal bone and good padding absorbs tons of force, again, try to spar with Winning gloves to see the difference.
        3. Yes, obviously sparring light is safer for your brain than sparring 100% with super padded gloves. We are occasionally going 100% anyway. These gloves should make these times safer and let us do it more often.

Believe that. To be a fly on the wall at some of these gyms/camps...

When I was young it seemed like protection was more the headgear than the gloves. Gloves protect hands not heads.

Nothing will stop your nose from getting busted except like a helmet or some such similar ridiculous solution

I sensed that immediately. Not being able to find soft enough gloves to contain his power is like complaining he can’t find condoms that are big enough. It’s a humble brag that I’m not taking seriously.

I'm sure it's been tried. And they settled on the current variations as the 'sweet spot'.

I'm just thinking what it would be like getting hit with these ridiculously big pillow gloves. Surely they'd be sponging up in your eyeballs.

And you'd be swinging like hell just to have any kind of impact.

Not sure what sparring like that would teach you.

Better off having a pillow fight if that's what you really want.

Of course sparring full force with pillows give you more brain damage than pulling punches in a bareknuckle fight.
But the idea here is to make the non-pulled-punches less damaging.
And pls stop with the 'LeArN sOmE dEfEnSe'
We focus greatly on defense in my gym, but its always relative to your opponents offense. If you never get hit clean, you need to find better sparring partners dude.
                    Be a bit open minded.
                    Issues I can see

                    - You should be able to control your punches, so that they are fast and light. If I touch you in sparring, that should be a signal to you that you should watch out.. next time I'll do it harder

                    - Hard sparring has its place, but it is not a go-to. You might need it as a 'heart check' sometimes, but generally I have seen good sparring as a way to test your skills NOT as a way to test your heart... I think most coaches have seen the phenomenon of a guy who is a warrior in sparring and a pu55ycat when it comes to fight night...

                    - Virtual Reality may be the answer you are looking for. Head gear increases the likelihood of you getting hit by limiting head movement, so where is the benefit? And ******ly big gloves throw your timing off..

I was gonna say gym wars are ******, and didn't you learn anything from Rocky (Tommy 'The Machine' Gunn gets kicked out the gym for beating up on a sparring partner)... but you're right. Seeing two guys who know what they're doing, hard sparring is great to watch. But you have to know what you're doing, I cringe at the thought of beginners going all out on each other, it's pointless mostly
