I'm shocked and gutted that it took this long for BoxingScene to drop this news. Bad Left Hook (Will Esco) put this out on January 23rd! I can't hate on Canelo. It will be massive in Japan. I just hope we see Canelo vs. Benavidez this September! Maybe now BJ Saunders will actually fight someone! Been a long time since the Lemieux fight!

He didn't get paid to fight GGG, Andrade, Smith, Plant, Benavidez, Bivol & Beterbiev all in a row. MW to LHW is full of trouble! Maybe every 3rd fight you can throw one of these names in????

I think Canelo is tired of hearing all the nonsense about cherrypikin and this mayweather insult comparison. That's why he is choosing to fight the most dangerous middleweight out there. If you don't know of Murata well, that says something too. Many wouldn't call this guy out. Please make this fight happen.

You're taking the argument out of context like we're all idiots.

Canelo fought top opposition when he had to make a name for himself and was trying to establish himself as a marquee fighter.

That was years ago. People are now talking about the last 5 years or so of his career - if you can't analyse and discover that Canelo is employing the same business model as Floyd did when he picked fighters either coming straight off a war, has slipped a peg or two, or were big names but in their twilight then you are truly blind.

good comment and good job exposing how he tried to take it out of context by bringing up fights from 5-6 yrs ago. And you're right, Floyd hardly ever fought the best version of most of his opponents. However, at least he understood the concept of you're only as good as you're last fight when it came to fans perception. He usually fought guys coming off of big wins like Hatton, Ortiz, Cotto, Canelo, maidana, etc. Most of canelos opponents clearly look vulnerable in the fight right before he picks them.

Signing with DAZN allows Canelo to fight these kind of fights.

Under the ppv model he would have to pick opponents that would help sell a ppv.

On DAZN he can fight whoever he wants. The money is guaranteed.
