Bolded: Right there, you failed. It was a std. 70/30 split and of course Kovalev turned that down. Also, it would have made an agreement with HBO impossible.
You responded with the split because you knew damn will that's why he turned down the fight.
To suggest that he didn't want the fight is ridiculous.Comment

You're wrong.

Kathy Duva’s unprecedented proposal was approved: the winner of the March fight between WBA/IBF/WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev of Russia and WBC Diamond Champion Jean Pascal of Canada will become the WBC mandatory challenger. If there is no agreement in the free negotiations period for the mandatory fight, the purse offer split will be 50/50.
Just when it looked like the path was relatively clear for a unification showdown between champion Adonis Stevenson and three-belt owner Sergey Kovalev, a wrench was thrown into the plans.
Had the fight gone to the bid, the fighters would have split the winning figure 50-50Comment

Here's a couple of facts from YOUR cited articles for you to chew on and think about:You're wrong.

Just when it looked like the path was relatively clear for a unification showdown between champion Adonis Stevenson and three-belt owner Sergey Kovalev, a wrench was thrown into the plans.
Had the fight gone to the bid, the fighters would have split the winning figure 50-50
"Sanctioning bodies do not rank other organizations' titleholders, but WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman said he wanted to see the fight happen for the good of boxing and made the move, which was music to Kovalev's ears because he has been chasing Stevenson for more than a year. Last year, Main Events thought they had a deal only to watch as Stevenson, under the guidance of adviser Al Haymon, went in another direction and got crushed for it in the court of public opinion."
And then:
"Duva, the one who initially suggested that the WBC make Kovalev the mandatory at the organization's annual convention late last year, said that while she and Kovalev very much want to make the fight, Kovalev is under exclusive contract to HBO, which would not allow him to fight on another network. Stevenson is backed by Haymon, who could bankroll a big bid by Michel and put the fight on Showtime or one of the networks on which his Premier Boxing Champions series appears, such as NBC, CBS or ESPN, whose deal begins in July."
Now, the exception to the purse split was not standard and I do give the WBC credit for doing that, it really didn't matter because of Haymon. NOT KOVALEV.

I'm a Wilder fan, but I definitely think Fury's the Lineal champ.
He beat the man who won the fight between the top ranked 2 HW contenders at the time (KLitschko).
He retired for a few months and unretired before Joshua & Wilder could fight for it, so it's their loss, not his.
That's not true.
Tyson beat Spinks for the Lineal title in '88. It's always been there.Comment
