This. He don't need a rematch. He needs a post-boxing career. When you are past 30, losing & getting injured it's time to pursue other things. Boxing is a young man's game & unforgiving on its worst nights. Get in, get paid & get the f#ck out is my advice to any boxer. Hell I'm a proponent of early retirement for the high level guys who are still winning when they've gotten life changing money already. If I was a cat like Floyd, Oscar, Manny, Canelo or Tyson or any high level high payday guy like that I'd be retired when I had 9 digits in the bank/in investments + a nice life day to day beyond that money 100%.I feel he should probably just retire on this fight. It makes him look good giving it his all for 12 rounds with a serious injury. He’s going to be 40 soon, there’s really not much he’s going to be able to do at that age against higher level competition even when 100% healthy.Comment

This fight shouldn’t have happened in the first place. A rematch? Please. Gamboa looked horrible that night, and not just because of the injury. Yuri is burnt-to-a-crisp toast. Davis and his team should be embarrassed that the corpse of Gamboa nearly took him the distance on one leg. We don’t need to see this again...or any other fight that includes Gamboa.Comment

Gamboa probably needed this advice early in his career. Starting his career overseas, not taking the Rios fight, marinating the JuanMa fight and then signing with 50 Cent and other incompetent promotional teams were all failures to capitalize on his talents. Whatever he made wasn't a fraction of what he could have pulled in.
Now he will probably fight on for peanuts barely scraping by and providing prospects with a name for their resume...sad.Comment
