"NINE World Champions" sounds really good, until you look at it a little closer and notice the paper titlists squeezed in for good measure. Floyd has never beaten an undisputed champion, or unified any title, or been involved in a unification. He's won individual world titles, and fought some very good world titlists. And yes, he will have 5 titles in 5 weight classes before he's done, but will he have a true world championship? And why is he in the prime of his career and dodging his toughest fights? When is the last time he's taken on serious top of the line competition, or a fighter not coming off of a loss? It's time for Floyd to stop living off of beating Hernandez, Chavez and Corrales, etc. Floyd was a really good at 130 and 135, but since then?
Hatton probably won't rematch Collazo because he's going back to 140, I'd imagine. Hatton's frame is too small for 147, at least for fighting natural welters/jr middles, like Collazo. Hatton could feast on Mitchell, Judah, Gatti, etc, I'd bet. We'll see. But I think it's WAY too soon to say you've lost all respect for Hatton. Let's see who he fights first, and at what weight he's going to fight at.Comment

If that were true, why are his 2 current options:
Urkal at 147
Urango at 140
Good point.Comment

Also Hatton's whole purpose was to come to the States and build his name up against quality opponents and making the mayweather fight a mega fight. Urkal isnt going to make him popular in the States. 06 was when he was supposed to fight Mayweather now it's 07. If he doesnt want to fight quyality opponents at 147, vacate and fight Harris at 140 or Castillo.Comment

hatton could do the "manly" and brave thing and fight collazo again.
or he could do the smart thing and avoid the man he barely beat for the title.
i can understand the demand for a rematch between hatton and collazo. but ricky's playing it smart and avoiding (and reasonably so) the slick southpaw who gave him the hardest fight he ever had.
collazo is not the draw and collazo is not the star in this situation. ricky is. ricky's the star, the attraction, the champion, and the moneymaker in this match. so therefor it should be HIS decision to fight collazo again or not. and i can understand if he doesnt fight him again. why should he risk his title and his record and his reputation by taking such a dangerous fight so he can try to defeat a man he already defeated?
ricky's avoiding collazo cuz it would be a dumbass move by ricky to take the rematch.Comment

Mayweather is smart, he knows his profession is short lived and he is looking out for his own best interest and rightfully so. (Is boxing a team sport?) His boring ass style? Mayweather is a tactical fighter and a technician he isnt some bar brawling garbage club fighter, so I take it you truly do not appreciate and love the sweet science because Mayweather represents every aspect in the science and art of boxing.
I think you are confusing arrogance with confidence...When you are on top everybody tries to bring you down.
I dont see how anybody can hate on Mayweather for his career so far. He is young and already his resume is jam packed with top caliber names.
Zab Judah
Arturo Gatti
Corley
Sosa
Castillo
Corrales
Chavez
Hernandez
Juuko
Manfredy
If Mayweather retired today he would go down in the boxing hall of fame...Comment

But to my understanding he wants for catch the appeal of America and fighting mandatories isnt going to do that unless your mandatory is Cotto/Mayweather or other top names at 140-147.
I wouldnt mind it if Hatton fought Oktay and Cotto was on the same card and they had a showdown next June the day before/after the Puerto Rican Day Parade...That would be huge.Comment

I have lost some respect for Hatton for not giving Collazo a rematch. True that not every "close" fight deserves a rematch, but this was more than just close. Most of the people that think Hatton won the fight scored it 114-113. That means it was an even fight except for a flash knockdown that was more a result of balance than being hurt. That means Collazo's loss of balance for a split second was the difference between retaining and losing his title. A match that close IS deserving of a rematch and I think Hatton should grant it.Comment

Hey, bottom line- I like Hatton's record and level of competition over the past 3 years better than Mayweather's. No doubt.
Mayweather is shamelessly avoiding Margarito. Hatton is avoiding Collazo, but hey, he just beat him, clearly. Close, but clearly. So he doesn't want to fight Collazo again? There are many other fights I'd rather see Ricky take. Some are saying Collazo won, but I'm not quite sure how they could come to that. The rounds were very clear. Collazo did next to nothing in a whole string of rounds where Hatton was working him over against the ropes. Giving Collazo every conceivable benefit of the doubt ends up with 6-6 in rounds, being generous, and with Ricky getting an extra point for the KD, he wins. It was a close fight, but not controversial at all. There's a difference. All close decisions are not controversial ones. Considering it was Hatton's first fight at 147, and how his body didn't really look up to the new weight, I'd say he will look better in his next fight, whichever weight it's at.Comment
