Ricky Hatten is a straight forward fighter who puts tons of pressure on you.
I dont think he is overrated. I would be interested in seeing Hatton thrown into a large ring against a faster fighter and see how he does since he likes to do damage on the ropes.
He's only at 147 because Mayweather and Gatti moved up. He moved to 147 for the money fights, he's already beaten Tszyu to become undisputed 140lb king and only has a handful of fights left in him - he wouldn't want to waste one against this Collazo guy.
Floyd has faced NINE, I repeat NINE World Champions.
See, this is what keeps Mayweather on his current path, unfortunately. I wrote a long post about it awhile back, how US sports fans like numbers and that's how they remember your legacy.
"NINE World Champions" sounds really good, until you look at it a little closer and notice the paper titlists squeezed in for good measure. Floyd has never beaten an undisputed champion, or unified any title, or been involved in a unification. He's won individual world titles, and fought some very good world titlists. And yes, he will have 5 titles in 5 weight classes before he's done, but will he have a true world championship? And why is he in the prime of his career and dodging his toughest fights? When is the last time he's taken on serious top of the line competition, or a fighter not coming off of a loss? It's time for Floyd to stop living off of beating Hernandez, Chavez and Corrales, etc. Floyd was a really good at 130 and 135, but since then?
Hatton probably won't rematch Collazo because he's going back to 140, I'd imagine. Hatton's frame is too small for 147, at least for fighting natural welters/jr middles, like Collazo. Hatton could feast on Mitchell, Judah, Gatti, etc, I'd bet. We'll see. But I think it's WAY too soon to say you've lost all respect for Hatton. Let's see who he fights first, and at what weight he's going to fight at.
That's why fighters like PBF and Barrera are respected today. If they had a controversial win like (PBF had with Castillo) and (Barrera had with Morales and now Juarez), They have no problem in taking the rematch.

The only hole in that argument is that it WASN'T controversial. There's a difference between close, and controversial. Read my previous post. Infact just read the thread. Most intelligent fans know the score about that fight.
Hatton shouldn't waste any more time on Collazo. He should go back to 140 where he can dominate.
I think Hatton is over rated by his fans some but he's a good fighter. I also thought he lost the Collazo fight because Hatton was aggressive but it wasn't effective aggression. Collazo controlled the pace of the fight behind his jab & was able to discourage Hatton for most of the fight. Collazo landed the cleaner/harder punches throughout the fight along with his shoulder roll defense that didn't allow Hatton to land clean punches often. I put very little credence to compubox because A- It's tallied by an imperfect human who thinks that some punches land when at times they're incorrect. B- Just because you land more punches in a fight per say doesn't mean you won the fight. You score a fight on so much more than just punch stats. Hatton doesn't want to fight Collazo because he knows he can lose the fight & it's not worth it to him. Just watch his body language during & after the fight & his confidence was shaken because deep down he knows that fight could've went to Collazo.

I'm not a huge Hatton fan but I have a decent amount of respect for the guy and I find his style for the most part appealing. I would say that you are correct, I had the fight at 6 rounds a piece with Hattons knockdown of Collazo winning him the fight.
However, if he fights some lower tier guy like Urkal under the pretense of "he's my mandatory" then I will lose a great deal of the respect I currently have for him. Its not so much on not giving Collazo a rematch its the competition level he goes against instead of Collazo that will do it.
Yes, I think Hatton squeaked by Collazo but if Hatton doesn't have any other real names to fight next then give Collazo the rematch, He deserves consideration for being so competitive.

The brits are known for fighting mandatories and his stock will continue to rise overseas...
But to my understanding he wants for catch the appeal of America and fighting mandatories isnt going to do that unless your mandatory is Cotto/Mayweather or other top names at 140-147.
I wouldnt mind it if Hatton fought Oktay and Cotto was on the same card and they had a showdown next June the day before/after the Puerto Rican Day Parade...That would be huge.
