Well I never had respect for him so I can't really lose what I don't have. He's a decent little fighter but there's just way too much Great White Hope screaming out.
Has anybody else lost respect for Hatton?

Mayweather is smart, he knows his profession is short lived and he is looking out for his own best interest and rightfully so. (Is boxing a team sport?) His boring ass style? Mayweather is a tactical fighter and a technician he isnt some bar brawling garbage club fighter, so I take it you truly do not appreciate and love the sweet science because Mayweather represents every aspect in the science and art of boxing.
I think you are confusing arrogance with confidence...When you are on top everybody tries to bring you down.
I dont see how anybody can hate on Mayweather for his career so far. He is young and already his resume is jam packed with top caliber names.
Zab Judah
Arturo Gatti
Corley
Sosa
Castillo
Corrales
Chavez
Hernandez
Juuko
Manfredy
If Mayweather retired today he would go down in the boxing hall of fame...Comment

I just hope it happens sooner than later because the way Hatton fights his career will be short lived and we need to get these guys in the ring as soon as possible and watch both of them peak in the ring.Comment

Originally posted by Tha GreatestI used to have tons of respect for Ricky Hatton, but what he has done with the Collazo situation is ridiculous.
He won't give Collazo a rematch because he already beat him, well tons of people thought that Collazo had won and the fight was WAY too controversial.
Hatton needs to man up and fight Collazo again, if he doesn't do this, then there will always be a big dark hole in his career.
Who else agrees with me?
I made a thread about this in BB a few months ago and everyone obviously disagreed...LOL....
Well, what about you guys?
Collazo beat him.Comment

It wasn't controversial. It was unanimous. Most people who know how to score fights had that one 114-113 for Hatton or 115-112 for Hatton and not much else is acceptable. Hatton won a good, close fight against a tough southpaw. End of story.
This is not controversial like Barrera vs. Juarez where it was declared a draw, before two judges changed their scorecards to make EVEN ROUNDS, which is unheard of in big fights for the most part. Barrera knows his win was controversial, so he is giving the necessary rematch. HBO and all three judges had Hatton winning a close fight. It was not controversial.Comment

Originally posted by Smashingwhoever says collazo won that fight is blind as a bat...it was close... Hatton won by two rounds and against a proper welter champ...damn fools
It is plainly moronic to score that fight to Collazo. No-one doubts that it was reasonably close fight but Hatton threw more punches, and landed more punches: 259 of 741 (35%) to 213 of 712 (30%). He also held a massive 254-167 edge in power connects, throwing 637 to Collazo's 471. So Collazo got out worked, out landed, and overpowered. The only thing Collazo did was out-jab Ricky. Hardly surprising at Ricky doesn't have a jab. I scored the fight 115-112.
Everyone needs to stop crying. It wasn't so close that a rematch is immediately warranted. It wasn't even controversial. Should every fight like this immediately be refought? No. Every second fight would be a rematch.
Collazo had his chance and didn't take it. Hatton should fight Cotto. A fight he would win.Last edited by Cabbage; 08-01-2006, 04:52 AM.Comment
