And how did those trainers become "legendary"?

They done it by doing great things with great fighters....... do not judge before Fury has even done anything yet.... he could have easily won the WBC with different judges and been lauded as the best in the world.

You will find human beings are very malleable.

Then.... Why duck the rematch to run to ESPN and fight absolute no names for paychecks? If your fighter was in Wilder's head like you say, I would think an immediate 2nd fight would have been the way to go. Your fighter would be a world champ and calling all the shots.

Guess we will see come Feb. Unless one of those rematches with Wallin, Schwarz, Pianeta, or Seferi are more appealing.

Agreed except for power. Tyson is not known for devastating power.

True, but Ortiz's power has been overrated.

I think Tyson’s lack of power is why i don’t need to see a rematch, but i was fine with an Ortiz fight. Ortiz intended to ko wilder as wilder intended the same. Tyson wants a decision, he’s not really equipped for a firefight.

Look at the way Ortiz was escorted to his corner by two guys.. He was on shaky legs bro! He went to sleep.. Had a dream his lips was falling off.. woke up rubbing his lips.. Then he wobbly got up on the count of ten.. Not nine. It waa over.. Just like When Wilder Koed Fury in the twelve round!

But I still think he's looking as sharp as ever.

If Fury's not focused, he'll lose.

I like Ben Davison. He's kept Fury on track. But I'm not sure how good of a trainer he is. With the fullest of respect, Fury deserves "better".

For generations, fighters have been assigned legendary trainers. Fury doesn't have one. A Dundee, or Clancy, Arcel or Futch would really round out his game. The fact that he has to worry about Wilder is pretty sad.
Fury trained in Big Bear with Davidson for the first half of camp, then he and Davidson trained with Freddie Roach in Los Angeles for the end of camp.

Roach latter said that they came to him and told him that training in Big Bear wasn't going well, and they needed Roach's help.

Roach said that for the rematch he wants Fury to have the full camp with Roach on board. I imagine we'll get an announcement soon that Roach will be co-trainer alongside Davidson for the rematch.

Only 3 guys have heard the final bell in 35 fights.

-2 times Wilder knocked him out
-26 times Ortiz won by KO
-2 times Ortiz had a KO win overturned to a no contest (one drug test and one where the ref made the wrong call when Ortiz knocked the dude out of the ring
-2 times the opponent was DQ'd for repeated intentional low blows because Ortiz was battering them so badly

I don't think Ortiz's power is overrated at all. I think he's top 5, maybe even 2nd in the division, in terms of pure power.

As a boxing purist, I felt sick to my stomach for Ortiz. But Wilder truly is accomplishing something amazing, and I think it’s cool it’s happening in my lifetime.
