All three are considered Russian. I dont hear anyone on street call KLitschko Ukrananian. They always say "that tall Russian guy"

When I spoke to people about Liakhovich, they said "the Russian guy who kicked Brewster's ass".

Well they are not from Russia, therefore should not be considered Russian.

i expect rock to beat oleg's ass and then afterward rock fans(who are actully just anti-klit) will be praising him as the best... unless oleg pulls the upset, this bout has little significance to the division... just like wlad/briggs really means nothing unless briggs wins...

Well, ignorance does not make them russian, try to come up to any of the ukrainian nationalists, and tell them that Wlad is Russian.

Or tell anyone from Belarus that Sergei is Russian.
Lyukovich is thier first champion in many years, perhaps even ever.

That is exactly what will happen. DEAD ON!

Rahman will get praise for beating a aging man and it will be thrown out as some movement against "Russian" boxers, Wlad. It will mean nothing. Maskaev isnt even top 10 by Ring. Fight News ranked him as 14 under John Ruiz and Shannon Briggs. Unfortuantly Rahman will get too much praise for this fight if he wins.

I actually think Maskaev has a good shot at beating Rahman again, not because Maskaev is nearly as talented as Klitschko but because Rahman in all honesty sucks. Im going to make another thread of something I post elsewhere explaining why.

true, but they are damn close

The reason they are called Russians is because all these countries used to be part of the USSR (Soviet Union). This all changed in the early 90's as the Soviet Union collapsed and all these small countries(my Armenia as well) broke off and became independent countries.

The main language or at least 2nd language of all these countries is Russian and they all have a very similar culture and lifestyle compared to that of the Russians.

                Former Soviet countries:
-Armenia, Azerbaijian, Georgia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Kazakstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikstan.

This was the Soviet Communist flag that represented all these countries before they broke free.

I know the history man, but there not Russian.
Would you be pissed off if you, or even Vanes or Vic were considered Russian because you are close in proximity to russia or have similar cultures??

im with you on rahman sucking, without having seen maskaev fight in a very long time i give him a 30 percent chance just by being in good shape. toney never should have let rahman off the hook with the draw, it ****ed the division. if toney were the champ nobody would even consider picking maskaev to beat him. meanwhile rahman could be getting his ass KO'ed by sam peter.

i hope that rahman wins though, and says he will fight wlad, all the **** that went down with vitali they should want to fight each other. and of course the other champs dont want any part of unification.

The Soviets occupied Hungary aswell, I dont consider myself Russian.

Didnt the Ukrainians break free of the Soviets before they collapsed anyways?
