Unfortunately that is the nature of sport's forums. I am not a Canelo hater but a Bivol win would have been more impressive. The fight was offered and Canelo politely declined. It was a smart business decision to fight Kovalev but should it enhance his resume much? Kovalev barely beat a fatigued, inexperienced Yarde and then took this fight on a short layoff. The K.O was impressive but Canelo didn't look very scintillating except for the 11th round. No hating just stating facts! IMHO pound for pound lists are nonsense! Is Canelo the most exciting current fighter? Where is that list?

Cmon bro you know how boxing works when Canelo whoops Bivol or Beterbiev you know damn well ppl will say “oh they were never good to begin with”.

I give Alvarez credit for fighting Kovalev. Anything can happen in boxing and every fight is a risk.
But there are risk and there are calculated risk and this one was calculated.
Kovalev had been looking vulnerable for a while and Alvarez took advantage.
It'a fact that Canelo KO'd a LHW champ but if you dig a little deeper you know that doesn't tell the whole story.

So what? Floyd was a favorite against De La Hoya - didn't change the fact that the fight MADE him.

I keep trying to explain to you people and you need to start reconciling it. THIS. IS. A. BUSINESS. You fight SMART, not hard.

Don't fight 'eye test' just because Max Kellerman says you should. You fight who is the biggest payday with the lowest risk. That's how you stay in the game longer, get those endorsements, get that money, get notoriety. That's what matters in boxing. And until you guys smarten up you're going to stay whiny every time Carnelo sparks a NAMED opponent and pulls millions of dollars.

Spence just fought a top guy and what'd it get him? Not a damn thing. In fact some people rated him lower for it. It's pointless.
