Alright, I concede to that and agree. Still, I feel like the mystery you speak of his more of a promotion tactic than an actual merit he earned. I mean, Margarito still has less to offer for a boxer's legacy than other ranked fighters. Despite how much some people would like to see him fight Mayweather, if he lost hardcore no one would remember him. In five years they would say, "Oh, he beat that Margarito chump. Who had he beaten? That's nothing impressive" and forget all this talk prior to the fight. Plus, I'm not saying Antonio is not a dangerous fighter....just one who is offering less.

As far as the 8 million goes...that is a payday only offered to one man...so it can't be applied to why Mosley and the rest are 'ducking' him.

Vernon Forrest was a lot like this because he rose through the ranks without the big promotions behind him etc. When Shane finally did give him a chance, he showed people he was definitely deserving. I think Margarito is waiting for a similar chance. It is sad that he might not get his chance for another year but that is the game of boxing. As long as he keeps winning, eventually he won't be able to be ignored.

co-sign...Winky Wright as well. Now look at him.

there is a good reason why some fighters can't get big fights.

That's something that cannot be foretold. Chavez, Augustus, and Castillo all went on to do good things after losing to Floyd. This helped Floyd's legacy. If Floyd did beat Tony, Tony could very well go on to dominate or become a champ at 154.

And there aren't but a handfull of guys that Floyd can fight that provide better reason that Margarito. Margarito is number 3 in the world at 147, behind Baldomir and Floyd.

Hatton & Cotto have turned down Floyd. DLH and Mosley also have done the same until at least May 2007. Winky and Floyd couldn't agree on money.

This leaves very few options for Floyd, and Marg is one of the best ones, along with Baldomir.

In a year down the road I may very well grow to see the side of Antonio Margarito his fans do. I'm not going to deny if I see him apply his high pressure techniques and size to elite fighters and dominate or win. That would make him everything he is painted out to be. I suppose it just annoys me that the man is liked more simply because other fighters are choosing to handle their career from a financial mind frame and not take the riskier run with him at this point. I guess I understand people liking those who are feared, but simply watching him get avoided by other fighters because he is a risk- not unbeatable but a risk- just doesn't draw me to him like other people.

But really you can't blame him that guys like Zab, Shane, and Floyd won't fight him. I won't criticize Floyd if he doesn't fight him, but to be fair I can't criticize Margarito for not having big names on the resume. If guys like Margarito or Vernon Forrest etc. were given chances early in their careers they would be the big names themselves. You don't have to like Margarito but at least reserve judgment until he gets his chance. Hey if he loses to some chump before then or he gets steam rolled by an elite opponent you are free to say I told you so.

Yeah if you saw that Lujuan fight there is no way you can say that he isn't exciting. And if excitement doesn't draw you to watch a fighter what does?
