Sonny Liston had not developed into anything like contender status by 1955 when Marciano retired. There is no way anyone was avoiding Liston at that point because he wasn’t even very good yet.

That said, even the best version of Liston would have been eaten alive by either Louis or Marciano, imo.

Like what you said, Rocky is a total garbage, a bum. marciano fought in one of the weakest eras in the heavyweight division the best men on his record walcot charles and Louis were all past there best louis was completely shot that wasn't rocky's fought but that is the facts it's the men u fight that make a fighter
What I said? Haha. No. I didn't say that. I would never call Rocky a bum. He beat the best of his era. He's a legend.

TC hasn't proven anything, according to you.

Yet, Rocky is a bum? TC's worth following? That bum who hasn't fought anybody?

      Twisted logic, man.

      Boxing's all about comparisons.

If you call one guy a bum, you gotta be consistent. If being a bum means you haven't proven yourself, then TC by your own logic, is a bum. Yet, you praise him and trash Rocky. Makes no sense.

He was a severely undersized heavyweight its astonishing he got as far as he did. A 185LB heavyweight knocking bigger guys silly.

          Marciano also had a pathetic reach for a heavyweight, 68". Tank Davis is a 5'4" 130LBer and has a 67 1/2" reach.

            Well said.

And a bunch of posts in here also said it well.

Rocky is deservedly one of the greatest ever. To be always undersized and outbox and dominate offensively everyone you face...he had high ring IQ and would break anyone down, and had godly power.

Rocky fought past over the hill former champ. What he did to Joe Louis he should have been put in jail

At the age of 27? You need to do your research, bruh. Marciano was 32 when he retired.

See what Don Turner has to say about him. He's only been training fighters for fifty years...

I stand corrected. sorry got mixed up on my head but what i meant about 27. it was April 27 ,1956 rocky retires to boxing. Marciano didn't fight nobody but bums from the bar, and a few old grandads passed their prime.

It's called the history section. Also, those mailmen and milkmen that you refer to were some of the toughest guys about in the era. These people would fight more than twice a year they were hard conditioned and weren't scared of getting into a war unlike a lot of the current guys in boxing. Not that I'm gonna call them anything for that, but its obvious that the people of the past were much more braver, tougher and entertaining.
