He was a mafia fighter and many of his earlier fights are non credible to say the least. His better wins essentially all came against fighters towards the end of their primes or careers.

Lack of elite wins prevent him from being held in the same esteem as other HW greats.

Was a very good HW, but his career is very much romanticised...

Ezzard Charles was still a live dog when they fought. So was Moore. Rocky fought whoever was there, he didn't duck anyone, though his early retirement may have been inspired by fighters who were on the way up at that time such as Patterson, Liston, Cleveland Williams.

I saw a photo of him weighing in for a title fight at 184 pounds in street clothes and shoes. Since heavyweights have no weight limit he was probably full of food and drink. The ex light heavyweight champs Charles and Moore both outweighed him. He beat whoever he had to beat and ducked no fighter to my knowledge. A great undefeated champion. Ali, who sparred with him was amazed at his power and called him a great fighter. People can rate him where ever they want but to me he was amazing for such a tiny heavyweight. He was smaller than today's light heavyweights who enter the ring weighing 186 to 195 pounds.

His last fight with Archie Moore, was definitely fixed. Moore was told to go in the tank, and that he would secure a legitimate shot after Rocky retired. Which is exactly what happened.
