I scored the first fight clearly for GGG, and second fight a draw, so I can agree with that. The rematch could have legit been scored for Canelo.

That's why a 3rd fight was badly needed, to settle the issue once and for all. GGG is even older now, but has split with Abel and got himself a new trainer, which would have made a 3rd fight even more interesting.

If Canelo had been negotiating in good faith he would have offered Dereyanchenko more when the $5.5million was rejected.

See my answer to the other shameless fanboy above. There was no reason at all why Canelo couldn't have offered Dereyanchenko a reesonable cut of his DAZN fee to get the deal made without a purse bid being called. He didn't do that because he didn't want to fight Dereyanchenko.

It would have been a terrific, fan friendly match-up. And thankfully, GGG stepping up to the challenge after Canelo tucked his tail will give us another just as good, if not better.
canelos money is a network deal, just like other fighters have deals with other networks, nobody shares their network money, next time fighters are going to ask canelo money from the mexican networks too, thats is just plain dumb...
ibf doesnt require fighters to give up part of their network money, so dervy was not entitled to that right??... Anyone asking canelo for that is pricing him self out, period...

That's a dumb answer. Canelo's network deal is just money paid to him and his promoter to fund their fights on DAZN. There was no reason at all why they couldn't have offered Dervyancheko a reasonable cut from it, the same as any fighter and promoter would do when trying to make a deal and avoid a purse bid.

you could say gbp , but he uses the money that dazn provides...
no fighter now or in the future is entitled to any pct of canelos 35 mil.. again asking for that is pricing out...

Not a Canelo fan but I have to agree with him a little about GGG. Could GGG have stepped up and fought Sergey by now. I remember Ward wanted the GGG fight also before he retired. Or could have GGG just jumped up to another weight class altogether and fought contenders or other belt holders there. Canelo with his 5 year, $365 million, 11 fight DAZN deal will be paid regardless of who he fights. He is in the drivers seat now.

And I said I agree with Canelo a little because the 1st fight with GGG was “arguably” a draw. And many fans believed their guy won. Boxing experts and analysts, other boxers and trainers, and boxing commentators had EITHER GGG or Canelo winning that 1st fight too. The 2nd fight was a decision win for Canelo but still close and quite a few people had either GGG or Canelo winning that 2nd fight. I am not sure I would pay and want to see a 3rd fight with a more clear cut winner. The problem is if the 3rd fight is close again, you have another Manny vs Marquez going into a 4th fight. I don’t know if I want to see a 4th fight. I am still on the fence with a 3rd Canelo vs GGG fight too. Depends if nothing else is on to watch. You sorta know how it will end.

DAZN contracts are not like regular network deals. GGG had a network deal with HBO. They paid him a specified fee in return for him guaranteeing not have his fights screened live on any other US network for the term of the contract.

HBO did not pay GGG himself multi million dollar fees for each fight he had during his contract with them. From my understanding, they paid a certain amount from their allocated budget to help fund each of GGG's fights and that fee was shared between both sides.

I'd hoping a 3rd fight happens to settle the score, but I'm not optimistic at all. Both guys just seem to walk in a different direction.

ok lets pretend that canelos money has nothing to do with the network, and that is just fight money, even then thats a guaranteed minimum by dazn for canelo, which means is money he is going to get paid regardless of what the other fighters are getting...
For that sole reason no fighter should expect to get a slice from that, anyone coming at canelo demanding a slice of that money is going to get nothing but a middle finger, just like dervy did...
asking canelo for a part of his guarantee is clearly pricing out..

                      GGG wants it, Canelo doesn't.
