You see that with basically every fighter with a 0 in today's sport...it's never about fighting 'the best'...it's about making as much money as possible while taking on the lowest risk as possible...occasionally that means we get the best fighting the best.

Acting like every fight he took was in efforts to 'be the best' and not focused on money...I mean what...just the other day after Kov/Yarde he said Kov should take the Canelo fight because it is prize fighting and not pride fighting...he apparently earlier in that interview said that RJJ should have fought Tyson for $40 million and cashed out.

I've had friends like Ward and I just can't with people like that lol...they will just say pretty clearly untrue things and I guess rarely get called on it so the cycle just continues.
He said Roy should've taken the big money fight against Tyson because dropping all that weight to go back down to Light Heavyweight didn't make sense financially or for his body.

Ward says Kov is aging before our eyes, and that Yarde was close to stopping him in his home country and in his home town no less.

There's not a bigger money fight for Kov than Canelo, and he doesn't have enough left to unify or move up in weight.

I appreciate your breakdowns of the interview...I do feel a few of those comments from Ward are contradictory but what can ya do

I'm just curious if ward had ever made those claims though? Had he ever said so himself that's he's the best? I've heard many other people say it and give him the accolades. I have heard ward mention that it's not his job to rate himself, he'll let the people decide that.

And I'm talking about when he was active.

If he's never said it outright I certainly feel like he has insinuated it...I think he was a really tough smart fighter for the record...just never really saw great 'boxing' skills from him against B level guys or above...and think he benefited from fighting at home with the scorecards and getting away with some dirty boxing.

I mentioned in another post...if he was a little more humble about his successes, then I wouldn't really have an issue with him...I do feel like he has always given off that vibe though that he was the greatest...can't think of a quote off-hand but I'm sure one can be found.

On another note I just read that Ward-Froch was billed as 'no excuses' lol...“This fight should be dubbed, ‘No Excuses.’ If Carl Froch beats me, there won’t be any excuses. I beat Carl Froch, there shouldn’t be any excuses. No judges, no referees, no nothing. May the best man win.”

Thought that was funny since that was the same way Ward Kov 2 was billed

Ward comes across as a genuine guy and someone who is articulate. It was a very good interview, and I made it till the end, all 1.5+ hrs of it. We need more interviews like this.

The very last thing in the whole world that I want to do is listen to Andre Ward talk about himself.

The man was a gold medalist and world champion that didnt have two fans together to make a third during his run, all due to his shit personality. All he does is quote the bible and complain.

I really like Ward as a man and respect him a lot but I just was not at all excited about how he fought and think he was gifted twice against Kovalev and should stop talking like some kind of expert on how to beat him. He definitely lost the first fight and was losing the 2nd until he started getting in illegal n@t shots. Thinking that he was on his way to winning anyways certainly acceptable, I just don't think he deserved to win the way he did.

Yeah good interview. I have never understood the hate Ward seems to get from his fellow countrymen He seems to get more love in The UK lol. He wins an Olympic Gold medal for USA and all he gets is hate. IMO a great role model for kids.
