Man no offense...but how can anyone say he was in that first fight at all...he got beat 5-1 (it was as close to 6-0 as it was 4-2) in the first 6 rounds...and the last 6 were even with the clearest round going to Kov in the 10th.

And the 2nd fight was much more competitive in the first 6-7 rounds vs the 1st fight...but Kov still outlanded him in 6/7 rounds...felt 5-2 Kov was probably the right score after 7, but Ward was much more in that fight, and could have legitimately won it in the end...dirty tactics and low blows notwithstanding.

Just don't see how anyone can say with those stats that it was Ward who was 'clearly winning' lol..no offense, sincerely...I guess we can all see what we want/need to see sometimes.

He also had phenomenal stamina and grit. One of my favorite fighters and my only gripe is that he didn't fight more and travel. He could of done so much more with his career.
On the bold...I think that is a lot of people's point about him...he was always the home fighter his whole career and won probably 90% of the close rounds in his career as a result...and also with his style having a home referee was almost necessary and certainly a huge plus.

I just don't think he would have been the same fighter/had the same accolades as a pro had he been from Cuba or Guatemala.

Yeah Rogan seems about as neutral as you can get on a lot of the 'political' issues which is nice/smart...most people don't want to be inundated with that stuff everywhere they turn...I think it gives him license to have people from all over on the show and they can get into some good topics.

Very interesting that most of the posts are from guys that flat out hate Ward, why do you guys bother? lol

In general I agree with you Ali...that it is strange that so many on here dedicate so much time and energy towards fighters they don't like...so many posts/posters on here seem to get really emotional about the hate as well, which seems like a big waste of time and energy.

In this case though there were a few of us wondering what the 2+ hour long talk entailed...and whether they got into any of the controversial parts of Ward's career...some convos spun off of that...don't really see anyone going overboard about it or really caring that much tbh.

Ward was a really tough smart fighter imo...but never really saw the top level boxing skills from him against B level guys and above...feel he benefited from always being the home fighter and winning a high percentage of his close rounds and also getting away with some of the dirty tactics he would employ.

No hate at all just how I and some other saw it...again he seems like a pretty good guy overall and was definitely very tough and smart...even if he received some favoritism you had to be tough and smart to employ his style often and even somewhat effectively
