did he talk about how he ducked guys like bute and ggg to try and setup fights against guys like shot pavlik and dmitri sartison? then how he went to court against his promoter because he thought he was allowed to pick his bum opponents that hbo kept rejecting and how he lost 3 times? rogan probably doesnt know that part.

wow this makes a lot of sense now. hbo wanted to be in the ward business and it explains how they robbed kovalev twice. they thought they were going to setup some mega fights with ward and then he left them hanging lol
Ward says the headbutts were accidental. He also said that Froch complained that his style was boring and Ward said, "No, it's just a style he didn't know how to deal with."

About the HBO deal, Ward said he almost chose retirement instead of the Kov rematch. But he talked to his pastor and decided to have one more fight. Then, after he stopped Kov in the rematch, he was undefeated and recognized as the #1 P4P fighter in the world...and the offers started rolling in. It was until after he made the big deal that he decided that he didn't want to fight anymore, and he said he told his wife and she agreed that he should retire.

He mentioned the lawsuit in passing and Rogan tried to get him to talk about it, but Ward said he can't really talk about it. All Ward would say about the lawsuit is that he went to court because he was fighting for what was right.

He said that Froch said he was robbed, Kov said he was robbed in the first fight and was low blowed in the second fight. Ward said all those controversies where excuses.

Ward said he suffered an injury as a kid that never recovered, which gave him limited use of his right arm. He said that he finally had surgery during a two year lay off, and it was better but still not 100%.

He said that before he retired, he signed a 3 fight deal with HBO: First, a hometown fight at Light Heavyweight, a Crusierweight fight, then finally a fight against Joshua at Heavyweight. Ward said right before it was going to be announced, Ward told HBO he wanted to retire instead.

He talks about how Roy Jones Jr. was his hero growing up, and how he and Roy had the same manager when Roy went up to Heavyweight. Roy was offered 40 million plus upside to fight the 2003 version of Mike Tyson. Ward said Roy should've taken that as his last fight and then sail into the sunset and retire. But Roy decide to drop back down to 175.

Ward also told a sad story about how after he won the gold medal in the 2004 Olympics, he traveled back to join Roy Jones Jr. for his tune up fight against Glen Johnson. He said that Roy got KO'd and then Roy caught up with him a few hours later. This is why Ward retired young, he didn't want to end up like Roy.
Lmao @ accused um he headbutted him 4 times. Froch wasn't robbed but kovalev was. Dont care for the RJJ stories but ima guess that joe Rogan doesnt know **** about boxing so he didnt question what ward had to say

Ward did mention how it irritates him when boxers claim to be the best but only want to fight bums. He said he's fine with boxers who seek out the low risk high reward fights and are only in it to make easy money. But just don't claim to be the best. If you start claiming you're the best, then fight the best and prove it.

As ward spoke about kovalev, I gathered that ward was indeed hesitant about initially taking the fight. Kovalev was an absolute killer. Even literal. He had to go through the phase of talking himself into believing that wouldn't Happen to him. Kovalev wouldn't do that to him. Ward did syke himself up and went through hell and back with kovalev one. Not just the actual fight, but before the fight, during and after the fight. He talked about the mental fortitude required to go through a time period like that.
