It was a really good interview but ward is a little full of himself
Andre Ward on the Joe Rogan Podcast

You pretty much guessed it...
2 hours of Ward patting himself on the back, and talking about how it’s not his cheating and fouling the problem, but it’s just the other guys making excuses.Comment

Ward said he figured Kov out in the 1st fight, and that Kov quit in the 2nd fight and didn't want a 3rd.
Ward said he wasn't going to call out any fighters by name when he was talking about these fighters who need to step up, but it definitely seemed like he was including the Charlo twins when he said, "You can be a lion against hyenas, but are you going to look like a lion against other lions".Ward did mention how it irritates him when boxers claim to be the best but only want to fight bums. He said he's fine with boxers who seek out the low risk high reward fights and are only in it to make easy money. But just don't claim to be the best. If you start claiming you're the best, then fight the best and prove it.
Ward also defended Tyson Fury spending 2019 taking 2 tune up fights before his February fight against Wilder. He said Fury is still trying to get back to form after the years of inactivity, substance abuse, and weight problems.Comment

2 hours of Ward telling Rogan about 'making adjustments and taking a fighters heart'
By headbutting and hitting them in the balls.Comment

Excellent episode. One of the best I have watched this year. When you hear / see how smart and mentally strong Ward is, you understand better why he has accomplished so much in his career and retired relatively young, healthy and wealthy. A true role model for young boxers out there in many ways.Comment

Ward's making money outside of fighting doing things like commentating on ESPN, appearing in the Creed movies, and hosting the Contender.Excellent episode. One of the best I have watched this year. He said his opponent is retirement, and I don't see anyone enticing him to come out of retirement to fight anyone.Comment

That's the thing for me with Ward...he just has that habit of basically telling a bold faced lie in a lot of his interviews...and you are just waiting for someone to be like - dude, that's not what happened lol...accused??? its on video. this guy is so dishonest. he will tell a lie that makes him look dishonest to 90 percent of people cause he knows the crazy 10 percent will listen to him.
wow this makes a lot of sense now. hbo wanted to be in the ward business becaue they thought he would bring in more money and it explains how they robbed kovalev twice. they thought they were going to setup some mega fights with ward and then he left them hanging lol
Good point on the HBO thing...I always figured the powers that be wanted to make him into the next Mayweather...for whatever reason he just never caught on like Floyd did.Comment

Perfect example of why Ward rubs me the wrong way...literally every fighter does/did that - takes on highest reward and lowest risk- basically, himself included.Ward did mention how it irritates him when boxers claim to be the best but only want to fight bums. He said he's fine with boxers who seek out the low risk high reward fights and are only in it to make easy money. But just don't claim to be the best. If you start claiming you're the best, then fight the best and prove it.
There is a reason why he never went to Canada to fight Bute or UK to fight Froch or never fought Kessler in the UK or neutral/away...even though they were all big money and legacy fights and the 'best fighting the best'...he was (rightfully imo) worried that neutral or away judges and refs wouldn't find the match in his favor...and probably then worried that once he picked up a 0 that he could never earn the big money like Mayweather was doing.
You see that with basically every fighter with a 0 in today's sport...it's never about fighting 'the best'...it's about making as much money as possible while taking on the lowest risk as possible...occasionally that means we get the best fighting the best.
Acting like every fight he took was in efforts to 'be the best' and not focused on money...I mean what...just the other day after Kov/Yarde he said Kov should take the Canelo fight because it is prize fighting and not pride fighting...he apparently earlier in that interview said that RJJ should have fought Tyson for $40 million and cashed out.
I've had friends like Ward and I just can't with people like that lol...they will just say pretty clearly untrue things and I guess rarely get called on it so the cycle just continues.Comment

I guess in a way...what else can he say...it would be refreshing to hear someone say 'yeah I probably was fortunate to not get DQd in at least one of the the Kessler fight or 2nd Kov fight...I probably should have rematched Kessler and Froch, even though I beat Froch 7-5...and I had no real business winning vs Kov in the 1st fight but at least I came back and fought him again'Ward talked about all his controversial wins, he talked about how in his first title fight, Kessler accused him of headbutting. He said that Froch said he was robbed, Kov said he was robbed in the first fight and was low blowed in the second fight. Ward said all those controversies where excuses.
I guess that is too much to ask
lol
