Andre Ward on the Joe Rogan Podcast

Definitely a good episode. Feel like Dre almost never talked like he does now when he was a active fighter so its refreshing. Good stuff. -
Did Rogan ask him about his controversial wins at least? Or was it just your typical JRE episode where Rogan sucks up to his guest and pretend he's smarter than he actually is?
Can't be bothered to listen Andre Ward talk for 2 hours if it's the latter.Comment

They do talk about all the controversies surrounding Ward, you rly should check it out, it was honestly very good, ima Ward fan but i can find him annoying at times too but Ward rly was a great fighter and he has a rock solid mindset, which is evident in the episodeComment

Can we get some cliff notes? I'm not watching 2hours of ward tooting his own horn and licking his lips.Comment

Ward talked about all his controversial wins, he talked about how in his first title fight, Kessler accused him of headbutting. He said that Froch said he was robbed, Kov said he was robbed in the first fight and was low blowed in the second fight. Ward said all those controversies where excuses.
Ward said he suffered an injury as a kid that never recovered, which gave him limited use of his right arm. He said that he finally had surgery during a two year lay off, and it was better but still not 100%.
He said that before he retired, he signed a 3 fight deal with HBO: First, a hometown fight at Light Heavyweight, a Crusierweight fight, then finally a fight against Joshua at Heavyweight. Ward said right before it was going to be announced, Ward told HBO he wanted to retire instead.
He talks about how Roy Jones Jr. was his hero growing up, and how he and Roy had the same manager when Roy went up to Heavyweight. Roy was offered 40 million plus upside to fight the 2003 version of Mike Tyson. Ward said Roy should've taken that as his last fight and then sail into the sunset and retire. But Roy decide to drop back down to 175.
Ward also told a sad story about how after he won the gold medal in the 2004 Olympics, he traveled back to join Roy Jones Jr. for his tune up fight against Glen Johnson. He said that Roy got KO'd and then Roy caught up with him a few hours later. This is why Ward retired young, he didn't want to end up like Roy.Comment

I have to admit. Ward has a pretty good vocabulary for a boxer. He knows how to express, and verbalize his thoughts really well. Don't know how smart he really is but by just hearing him talk, he does seem to be an intelligent person, nevermind a boxer.
With that being said, ward is quite fond of himself and his accomplishments. Not saying it's a bad thing.Comment

accused??? its on video. this guy is so dishonest. he will tell a lie that makes him look dishonest to 90 percent of people cause he knows the crazy 10 percent will listen to him.Ward talked about all his controversial wins, he talked about how in his first title fight, Kessler accused him of headbutting. wow this makes a lot of sense now. hbo wanted to be in the ward business becaue they thought he would bring in more money and it explains how they robbed kovalev twice. they thought they were going to setup some mega fights with ward and then he left them hanging lolLast edited by daggum; 09-04-2019, 09:29 PM.Comment
