Great...a “household name” amongst the fan base that supports their fighters the least in terms of actually spending money to watch them. To be a star, you need crossover appeal...not just a niche audience.

HBO/Top Rank spent all their money on the most aggressive marketing campaign in the 2000s for Manny & attached his name to Floyd Mayweather as much as possible. Boxing hasn't seen a push like that since. The Lil g push from HBO was a good try but by then that ship was sinking and Lil didn't fight any opponents that would've helped it stay afloat.

Dude has been making 200-400 PPV buys already just before he even fought Dela Hoya. Let alone, more than 1M accumulated PPV buys for the Morales trilogy. Mexican rivalry is the primary reason for Pacquiao's increased marketability. There was no Mayweather in the storyline in his career at that time. They were weight classes apart.

Too bad tank’s people don’t want to put him anywhere near loma anytime soon. I mean that genuinely, because I’m a fan of both and would love to see that fight...especially before loma is diminished and it’s less meaningful. I am not arguing with you. I am just stating that making a superstar in boxing is not easy for anyone, regardless if they can speak english or not. I mentioned the 147 pounders myself as they get the most attention these days below heavyweight. My point was even though the 147lb guys are more popular than most, becoming a superstar will be difficult for even them.
