True. USA is the biggest market in the world when it comes to the entertainment industry. Sports are a pillar of that. English is our dominant language. Without it, you lose marketability, he'll be relying on fighting to sell himself to the public. Just like his peer Crawford is relying on. Which is wild because Crawford speaks English. Crawford just isn't a great businessman. -
At least he's honest about it. He's learning quite quickly though. Definitely a factor in his underwhelming reception by the general public despite his talent.
Casual market seems to only gravitate towards larger than life personalities/mouths or just plain old fashioned shallow as all hell appearance.Comment

I disagree.
There have been plenty of mega star fighters, who have not spoken English during their careers.
Miguel Cotto only really started speaking English near the end of his career.Comment

Tomoki Kameda speaks better Spanish than a lot of Mexican-Americans lolComment

HBO/Top Rank spent all their money on the most aggressive marketing campaign in the 2000s for Manny & attached his name to Floyd Mayweather as much as possible. Boxing hasn't seen a push like that since. The Lil g push from HBO was a good try but by then that ship was sinking and Lil didn't fight any opponents that would've helped it stay afloat.Comment
